Chapter 509
When Timothy saw the triumphant look in the man's eyes, he was rendered speechless and felt as though his heart was dealt a blow.
However, he wouldn't admit defeat like this, so he counterattacked. "There's still a difference. After all, this is my home. That's your home, and my sister is my family."
"Sooner or later, she’ll be part of my family. You should start learning to accept this fact."
Nicholas gave him a reality check with his words.
Although Timothy felt a little troubled, he said calmly, "But, my sister won't just abandon me like that."
After that, he looked at his sister with feigned obedience. "Tessa, you won't abandon me, will you?"
Nicholas turned to look at Tessa, too, as if he wanted an answer to Timothy's question as well.
Their squabble made her feel amused, but it also filled her heart with warmth.
"Oh, you two. You're both the most important people in my life, okay? Let's have a good meal," she said coaxingly as she wanted to end their dispute for her favor.
However, Timothy didn't want to end it like this, as he needed to prove his irreplaceable position in his sister’s heart in front of his brother-in-law.
"Tessa, you care about me the most, right? And you won't leave me in the future, right?"
He looked at his sister expectantly.
She was about to nod, but Nicholas' disgruntled voice rang out in the living room.
"You're already an adult, yet you’re still so clingy to your sister. Do those admirers in your university know about this?"
"What does being clingy to my sister have to do with them? Instead of saying that I'm clingy to my sister, aren't you the most clingy one? You came all the way to my house. Do the employees of your company know that you can't part with your girlfriend at all?"
"If your sister is willing, 1 wouldn’t mind letting everyone know."
"Shameless!"
"The feeling is mutual."
The two attacked one another with words as their swords and armor, and it seemed like it would be a never ending battle.
Meanwhile, Tessa could only watch on helplessly as two grown men started arguing like children.
She never knew that they would have such an immature side.
Gregory’s grumpy voice rang out like a clear bell just as she was thinking about how to advise them to a cease-fire.
"Miss Tessa likes me the most!"
After Gregory finished speaking, he stared expectantly at Tessa with starry eyes. "Miss Tessa, I’m right, aren't I? I’m your favorite."
"You're right. I do like you the most."
She found him so adorable that she couldn't help hugging and kissing him affectionately.
The sight of the duo being so affectionately intimate with each other utterly defeated Timothy and Nicholas. One could say that Gregory has won this round, barely lifting a finger.
After they finished their dinner, Timothy asked Nicholas to clean the dining table and kitchen together with him. He gave a reasonable reason and said, "My sister cooked, so we can't ask her to wash the dishes too."
As a result, the two men cleaned up the dirty kitchenware while Tessa played with Gregory in the living room.
From time to time, they could hear the sound of laughter from the kitchen.
As they listened to Gregory’s tinkling laughter and Tessa's melodious ones, they felt that they were blessed to be able to live such peaceful lives.
After the two men cleaned everything up, the four sat in the living room conversing with each other happily.
Without them realizing it, time passed by, and it was past 10.00 PM.
Timothy glanced at the time, raised his eyebrows at Nicholas, and said with a grin, "Nicholas, it's so late. Aren't you going back? I'm afraid there's not enough space for us to accommodate you."
Nicholas knew what he was playing at when he heard Timothy's teasing, so he answered calmly, "I can sleep with your sister tonight."
Tessa couldn't help being shy when she heard those words, despite this being the case lately.
