Chapter 103 Parently quarrel
There was a brief pause. A few minutes before she answered.
“Are you?”
“No.”
“Me neither.”
1 sighed.
“I’ll pick you up. I can’t wait to see you.”
“Perfect. See you then.”
“I love you.”
There wasn’t an answer again. I leaned against the sofa. I still couldn’t believe where I ended up. There was a young woman who made me mad. Who made me organise a romantic dinner, who made me wait for the time spent together, who I wanted to have next to me so badly. I thought, even if she fooled me, I didn’t care. I would bear it if I could see her even for a minute.
I just laid there looking at the ceiling. Since I met Alice again, I had less of a mood for Amber, so I decided I would stay at home that night. I stood up, and after taking a beer from the fridge, I went up into my cinema room, then I searched for a movie.
I was about the middle of it when the door slammed open, and my dad was staring at me.
“Gideon, what the hell are you doing? You should be in the club by now.”
I looked at him and frowned.
“I don’t go in every single day. I wanted to stay home today and have a rest.”
“Rest? We are about to cooperate with another company. Gideon, you are having responsibilities, too.”
I looked away. I couldn’t believe he was doing this to me. Especially now.
“Dad, that whore is annoying me. You shouldn’t sign that contract with them.”
“Amber is a pleasant woman. Let her get close to you. Just give her a chance.”
“Dad, I don’t need a whore to fuck, or a girlfriend. I’m okay, and I’m an adult. If I need a relationship, then I’ll find someone who I like.”
He sighed and walked to me. He sat next to me.
“Gideon, I know you got hurt. I know I brought Alice into the family, and I know I failed to protect her. You have all the rights to be angry with me, but I’m your father. I love you. And I just can’t watch you destroy yourself.”I lowered my head.
“I’m okay, dad, seriously I am. But if you push me to someone who I don’t like at all, don’t expect me to respect you.”
He lowered his head this time.
“Gideon, I just want you to be happy. Please get back to life. I hate to see you like this.”
“I’m fine. Believe me. But I have to have some rest. I’m tired.”
He sighed again, and he took the beer from my hand unexpectedly. He drank from it.
“Actually, I could use a night out. Your mum hasn’t talked to me since we had that argument.”
I frowned.
“Wait for me here.” I told him, and I went down to the kitchen. I took two cold beers out of the fridge, and I found a box as well. My dad looked at me,

surprised, while I put some into the small fridge that I had in the room. I opened one of the cold ones and I gave it to him. He took it. I opened the other one, and after we attached the two bottles together, we both drank.
He took his shoes down and tossed them into the corner. He made himself comfortable, then he motioned me to start the movie. I laughed.

I thought that would be the right moment to tell her about Alice, but I knew little about her new life. I didn’t want to listen to his concerns, so I thought it could wait. But I have to admit that it was a good feeling to spend time with him like before.
Later, we opened a few more bottles, and we both reached a happy statement. We stopped watching movies, and we just chatted. We talked about my childhood, about our happy time spent together. She told me stories about my mum that I heard a hundred times, of course.
The way he talked about these memories made me realise he missed her so much. I decided I was going to talk to her tomorrow.
About two o’clock she called him, and my dad told him he was with me, but she could hear in his voice he was drunk, and she questioned him about if he was telling the truth. I took the phone from dad, and I told mum she doesn’t need to worry. After she talked to me, she believed him and she only told me to take care of him. So we continued. It was about four am when finally we both went to sleep.
I woke up at about noon. I checked my phone instantly, hoping I had a message. And I smiled widely when I saw I had one.
“Where are we going, Gideon? I’m asking because I don’t know what to wear.”
“You look beautiful in anything.““Gideon… I have to know, because I don’t want to feel uncomfortable.”
“I’m going to wear a suit. If that helps.”
“It does.”
I was going to write to her to bring something to keep her warm, as I planned to be outside with her a lot, but I had a better idea. I wanted to leave some details, being a surprise for her on our first date.
“Do you know what colour you are going to wear?”
“Blue.”
“I can’t wait to see you. I love you.”
There was no answer again. That made me sad a bit, but I told myself I just had to be patient.
I got up, then I strolled into the bathroom. I freshen myself up, and I went to have a look at my father in the other room. He was sleeping soundly. Seeing him like that made me smile. I went to the kitchen, then I made breakfast. I haven’t done it since Alice left. But to know that I will meet her soon made me thrilled.
“Gideon, what are you doing?” I nearly jumped from the familiar pleasant voice. I turned around and my lips curled up into a smile.
“I’m making breakfast, mum. Do you want to eat with us too?”
She looked at me, shocked. She never saw me do anything in the kitchen.
“Where is your dad?”
“He is still sleeping mum, we had a few pints last night. I hope you don’t mind.”
“No, but he should have let me know.”
“Mum, he said that you haven’t talked to him since our argument.”
“Of course not. He should take the consequences of what he’s done, and his responsibility to make everything good again.”
She crossed her arms and looked away. That made me smile.
