Chapter 189 In an unknown world 

Not long after, two men in suits came to see us. Their guns were visible from afar 

“Who are you, and what do you want?” One of them asked with a strong accent. 

“My name is Riccardo D’angeli, and this is my wife. We came from Los Angeles and we would like to talk to your master. We came with peace.” 

“Our master is busy, usually not seeing unexpected visitors.” 

“I wouldn’t steal his precious time for long.” 

He looked at me deep in the eye, then he nodded to the other. The other took his phone, and he talked in mandarin language. 

When he hung up, he stepped to us and opened the gate. 

“Master is ready to see you.” 

“Thank you.” 

We stepped in and followed the two guys, who handed us to another inside the house. I could see Alexandra looking around in amazement. The house was mesmerising not just out but inside as well. 

We arrived at a door soon, which was quite simple compared to the house. The man opened the door and bent down after he motioned for us to enter. 

The room was dark, and I could smell the fine cigar in the air. There was a big desk in the middle and a middle–aged Asian man sat in a black leather chair. He was not tall nor short. His hair was neatly tied back, and his suit did not have a single crease on. 

We both bowed at him, and he motioned for us to sit down. 

“How come the respected Riccardo D’angeli and his gorgeous wife from Los Angeles are visiting me unexpectedly?” He asked with the now familiar 

accent. 

“I apologise to the master for not notifying you in advance, but I have an urgent problem, and as I am visiting your country out of my businesses, I have no power to solve it. I hoped I could ask for help from you.” 

He looked at me suddenly. 

“What brought you into my 

country, then?” 

“The Olympic games. My daughter is an olympian.” 

“I see. What does she do?” 

“She is a figure skater.” 

“Successful?TM: 

“A gold medalist” 

“Congratulations.” 

“Thank you.” 

He looked into my eyes deeply again before he finally got to the point. 

“What is 

is the problem that you assume I could help you solve? 

“My daughter and her fiance. They both disappeared this morning. I have some enemies in my home, and I can not believe they could reach me here. but still. I wouldn’t be ungrateful, I would repay the favour, of course.” 

His gaze moved on his desk, and he rubbed his forehead.

“Master D’angeli, I know nothing about this case. No one asked me anything, therefore I am definitely not involved. I’m sorry. The only thing that I could do for you is I could ask my people to help you find them. They know Beijing and the surrounding areas well.” 

I lowered my head. It hurt. I trusted he would know something about them. I felt Alexandra’s hand on mine, but this time her touch was not enough for me to calm down.

“I would appreciate that a lot, master.”

*You are welcome.” Wen Xiang stood up, then bowed at us. We bowed too. That was the sign he finished the conversation, and even if that accept, our visit was superfluous. 

As I sat in the car, I held the steering wheel stronger. Probably my movement was apparent as I felt Alexandra’s hand on my shoulder. “Riccardo, don’t forget that he wasn’t the last one who we can ask, and maybe the Sullivans will have some information.” 

I lowered my head. Honestly, I could cry. I never felt that helpless like this time. My thoughts were on Alice. How much I longed to find her for so many years. How much I missed, as I could not raise her since she was born. And now that I found her and have her near, I failed as her father. I failed to protect her, and no matter how much I tried to push the bad thoughts away, I needed to face the fact I might have lost her. 

Killing a people took only a moment. I knew that well. The only thought which could keep me going was they might need her for something, or they just wanted to threaten me with her. 

In both cases, I could get her back, but not knowing the purpose of her being kidnapped made me crazy and hopeless.
