Chapter 47 Misunderstanding 

She crossed her arms and sat down on the sofa without looking at me. I moved closer and sat down next to her.

“Don’t you believe me? Don’t you know that there are many videos about you on the internet about your performances, interviews, trainings? All the fun videos that your funs made. Even your bio is in there.”

“Yes, Alice. I watched thousand of them, and I read your bio when I started to be interested in you” I sighed. “These videos revealed your actual personality, and this was how I got to know you are so different from what you show us. And those videos are the reasons I know the person who you trying to be now isn’t you.” 

I watched her for a few seconds, but she didn’t give up. She just remained in the

“In the interviews, you clearly talking about your career. You were training to become an olympian. You said that was your dream, and watching you train then and now clearly tells me you didn’t give up. Not even now.” I sighed. 

“How much it costs, I don’t care. Actually, I was the one who ruined your plan, so I would be grateful if you would let me make up for it. That would give me pleasure to help you get back where you were at.” 

“Gideon, 

could you just…” she said, looking at me suddenly, but I was faster. 

“Oh, and I nearly forgot about that night we spent with my parents. When I found you with Lilly. I heard a few things that you told her.” 

First she looked at me, surprised, then her gaze darkened, and she stood up suddenly, holding her head. 

“What’s wrong, Alice?” 

I asked her while I frowned. Her reaction was weird. Did I say something wrong? I questioned myself 

She was about to leave the living room, but I stood up and caught her. 

“Alice, tell me. What’s wrong? 

She shook her head while she wanted to break free. 

“Tell me.” I asked her again, holding her tight. 

It took a few seconds when finally she stopped struggling. 

“Alice, tell me what is the problem.” I asked her nicely. She didn’t look at me, but I heard hear quiet whispering voice. “You cut her tongu

I looked up at the ceiling, and I held myself back from laughing. I felt like she would never forgive me for that. 

“Alice, you really misunderstood something. Why would we have done that?” 

She slowly raised her head and looked at me. I caressed her, then I laid her head on my chest. I hugged her tight. “There is another group. Unlike us, they are really cruel. Seth had something to do with them a few years ago, and he found Lilly there. He paid them a lot for her, and it took a great effort from my parents to save her from death. Then Lilly was the one who asked them if she could stay.” 

I took a deep breath while I caressed her back, while she gripped my shirt. I kissed the top of her head, and I just held her. A few minutes passed when she moved out of my hug slowly, then she looked at me. 

“I’m hungry.” 

It wasn’t the answer I expected, but at least it made me smile. I shook my head, then I bent down to kiss her. She didn’t refuse. She kissed me back. “I’ll order something. It won’t be long.” 

Chapter 47 Misunderstanding 

I thought she wouldn’t like that, but this time she just nodded. After kissing her cheek once again, I took my phone. I had twenty–three unreceived calls and thirteen text messages. All from the same person. Gemma. 

I knew that I’d have to talk to her. Last time I only told her about a break, but not that I had Alice. I had to finish our so–called relationship. My only problem was, I knew she wouldn’t accept it so easily, and I worried she might find the right place and the right time to harm Alice. Last time, Alice seemed to be much stronger than her, but I didn’t want to give a chance for that to happen. 

After the food arrived, we sat down to eat. She didn’t really talk, and I didn’t want to argue with her again. 

“Alice, if you don’t mind, we will go to see my parents today. Seth will come as well, probably they will take Ava too.” 

“Okay,” she nodded. There wasn’t any more reaction from her. I knew she didn’t really like my parents, well they didn’t give her a reason to like them, but I hoped it was going to change soon. I thought if she’d be the part of the family for real, she’d get to know them, and then she’d realise that they aren’t horrible at all. 

After we finished eating, she tidied up. I had a bad feeling, even if it looked like we had reconciled earlier. I worried she was going to continue huffing, but I was wrong. When she finished, she came to me in the living room, and she hugged me, sitting on the sofa. I held her, then I kissed her cheek. 

“Charles, my stepfather. I’m blaming him for everything.” 

She said that with no prelude. I caressed her back, encouraging her to continue if she wanted to.
