Chapter 65 Remembering
“You know, Gideon, there is only one thing that I never understood about her.”
“What?”
“I knew the loved me. Even if she acted like she didn’t care, I know she always watched all the videas about me, and she was proud of me. But she never loved me that much, to pack our things and leave Charles. My existence couldn’t make her stronger either,”
“Alice, you told me about him, and we don’t know what happened between them. I mean, maybe there was no way out for her.”
She lowered her head, and she stayed quiet for a few seconds, before she continued speaking.
“I think you are right. Charles would have found her.” She smiled sadly. “Is she buried?” she asked.
“No, not yet. My dad is organising the funeral.”
“Thank you”
“He’s organising it in Montreal. Is that okay with you?”
She shrugged her shoulders.

“I’m guessing, yes. She never
Ime where she originally came from. She only told me she moved to Montreal not long before she got pregnant with me.”
For a moment, I thought I was going to talk to her about her mother, but I swallowed my words back. I could see her sadness, even if she didn’t cry, so I didn’t want to hurt her more
I suddenly looked at her when I heard her laughing sadly.
“What?”
“I have a nice memory of her.”
“What is th
“She took me skating for the first time. It was a cold day close to Christmas. Many people were out, and that was the first time I saw contestant skaters skate. When she saw I was amazed by them, the asked me if I wanted to learn to skate. I said yes. She said she was very happy about that, because if I work hard, and become successful, I can live a different fe. I can be happy.”
She sighed.
“Mentally, she was okay then.
She smiled again, sadly-
“At that time I didn’t know what she meant. I remember the argued with Charles about it. He said skating is too expensive, and he said I should focus on studying no 1 would be able to pay back what I cost him. I think that was the only time when she fought against his will.”
She laughed nadly.
“He tried to hold me back by never giving me any money for skating.”
I looked at her.
“Then how could you keep skating?
“Before my first competition I found Jigle jobs next to school. I trained early in the morning, went to school, went to work, then trained again. I was exhausted, buit was worth it. After the competitions saved the money that I got, and I could pay for the expenses. My trainers said I was good enough to compete in the Olympic games when I was fifteen, but I had no sponsor, and the money that I carned wasn’t enough for that.”
I felt sorry for her, I always had everything, and I was loved by my parents. I couldn’t even imagine how hard a life she had even when she was only a child.

have to know, I’ll do everything to make you happy, and you’ll always be able to rely on me.”
She smiled at me, moved closer and she laid her head on my shoulder. I folded my arm around her, and I kissed her forehead

“I’m sorry, Gideon for misunderstanding you.”
Tamiled at her sadly.
“It didn’t know how to tell you this. But from now on I hope you are never going to think I want to be separated from you.”
She shook her head.
“Are you play?” I asked her.
She smiled and nodded
“Do you want me to make lunch?”
“Only if you really want to.”
She nodded, and she stood up. I followed her, and we went back into the house. Even if I didn’t like to be in the kitchen, this time I stayed with her. As I watched her had an idea.
“Alice”
“Are you sure you don’t
sure you don’t want to continue skating?”
and I could see she was hesitating. I moved closer to her, and I held her from behind. She put down the knife and she took a deep breath then she tumed around to look at me.
She stopped
“Gideon, it’s not that simple. To train for a competition is hard. It takes my time, and I’ll be tired.”
Esbruggeed my shoulden.
“If this is what makes you happy, then I don’t mind. I’m not saying that I want you to compete all in your life, but I don’t want you to regnet later that you missed your opportunity. Actually, I was the one who messed up everything, and I really want to fix what I ruined.”
“I need a coach as well, and it also costs a lot,”
