Zoe, flustered and furious at Mia’s taunts, lunged forward, clawing at Mia’s face and shouting, “Shut up! You’re spouting nonsense!” 

Mia sidestepped effortlessly, pushing Zoe away. “If I’m lying, go check the security footage. That’ll clear everything up, won’t it?” 

Today, Mia knew she had to put Zoe in her place. Otherwise, everyone else in the firm might think they could trample over her too. She wasn’t about to let that happen. 

“Attorney Baker says Mia’s lying, so why not check the security footage? That’ll show the truth!” someone. chimed in eagerly, clearly enjoying the drama, 

“Yeah, let’s go! We can all witness it firsthand!” 

“Come on, Attorney Baker, let’s go.” 

The onlookers started egging her on, excitement bubbling as the possibility of a showdown grew. 

Zoe’s face paled. If they pulled the footage, she wouldn’t just be exposed. Tom would be dragged down with her, too. That couldn’t happen. 

Mia looked at her with a half–smile, her eyes gleaming “Well, Attorney Baker, aren’t we going?” 

Mia knew exactly how this would end. She was certain that Zoe didn’t have the guts to follow through. 

With a final glare, she spat, “Mia, you’re spreading lies, and I’ll sue you for slander!” Then she bolted, her dignity left in shambles. 

As Zoe disappeared down the hallway, Mia brushed back her hair and glanced around at the lingering crowd. She said with a sweet, almost teasing voice, “Still here? Looking for more gossip? Who knows, I might know about you, too.” 

Her voice was soft and inviting, yet somehow sent chills down their spines. Within seconds, the crowd scattered, not wanting to be her next target. 

Mia then stepped into the break room, grinding coffee beans with a calm focus, her thoughts drifting to the new boss. Would he be easygoing? Or would he make the workplace unbearable? 

A few minutes later, she returned to her office with a fresh cup of coffee. Just as she sat down, Mandy rushed over, looking animated. “Guess what! Word is, Zoe and Attorney Jones are involved, and rumor has it she’s pregnant!” 

Mia was amazed at the speed rumors could spread. In just a short while, the story had escalated to Zoe being pregnant. 

At this rate, by tomorrow, people would be saying she had already given birth and to a secret love child, no less! 

“Mia, aren’t you even a little shocked?” Mandy asked, surprised by Mia’s lack of reaction. 

Mia took a seat at her desk with a calm expression, sipping her coffee slowly. “I was the one who hinted about Attorney Baker and Tom doing “inappropriate‘ things in the office. The rest? That’s just other people adding their own twist. Nothing to be surprised about.

Since she was pregnant, Mia was careful not to drink too much, just tiny sips to satisfy her craving for coffee. 

“Wait, that’s how it really started?” Mandy asked, stunned at how far the rumor had gone. Clearly, next time she would have to take gossip with a grain of salt or risk being completely misled.
