Chapter 23: Taking a look at the apartment

Bai Meiyue asked the taxi driver to go all the way to the Sunshine Deluxe apartment building. As the car drove past the streets, the traffic slowly thinned down before the taxi came to a stop in front of the building.

At the entrance of the building, there were a few people walking and talking with one another as they took a walk in the park. Bai Meiyue stepped down from the taxi and paid the fare before heading over to the agent whom she had texted last night.

"Hello," the man greeted Bai Meiyue with a smile on his face. He was a young man with slightly curly hair and a sunny disposition. "Miss Bai Meiyue, first of all, thank you for choosing Sunshine Deluxe Apartments. I assure you that you have come to the right place."

"This place is perfect for your family to stay. It is free from pollution, and the traffic here is not as bad as in the city. The scenery here is beautiful and the neighbours are friendly and polite—"

Bai Meiyue nodded perfunctorily. She then said to the agent, "I know all of this. Just tell me if my requirements can be fulfilled or not. I have already told you that I will only buy the penthouse if it is on the topmost floor, and no one should live on the same floor as me."

The heavy rain and the tsunami would cause flooding, and most of the houses would be flooded. Bai Meiyue needed to find a penthouse on the topmost floor to live in.

And as for why she wanted only one penthouse floor, it was because she was guarding against the Bai family. Her father was a shameless man, and his skin was thicker than the walls of the apartment building combined.

Once he finds out that she is living in a decent place after his release, that man will surely come looking for her. If she were to live alone, Bai Meiyue would have a better chance of guarding against Bai Qingshi and his family.

"Yes, I have already arranged for everything, Miss Bai." The agent nodded as he stepped aside and asked Bai Meiyue to follow him. He took her to the second building in the middle of the first and third buildings.

These buildings were built in such a way that they created a triangle shape, and this was also the reason why Bai Meiyue chose this building. With these three buildings supporting one another, the chances of them falling under the tsunami wave were really low.

"You are really fortunate, Miss Bai Meiyue. If you were a day late, then I assure you, you would have missed out on this great deal," the agent told her. "The other two penthouses are already sold, and this is the only one that is left. If you hadn't contacted me, then this penthouse would have been sold as well."

"It's just as you asked. There are four bedrooms, a kitchen, and an open space on the roof; you can use it as you want with no disruptions," the agent stated. "However, there is a small problem: the top floor is connected with the other three penthouses due to protective measures. Of course, the residents of the penthouse are not really social."

"The one who purchased the penthouse on the third building does not stay in the country most of the time, and as for the one who owns the penthouse at the first building, he is a quiet man, and he hardly returns home."
