"There are indeed a few patients who managed to escape." Shen Zhen’s expression became subtle as she answered Bai Meiyue. Though she didn’t say anything, Bai Meiyue understood that the situation at the hospital was not as optimistic as Shen Zhen was trying to make it sound.
Bai Meiyue stared at the woman for a while before asking in a bland voice, "Then do you really want to go back to the hospital and save those people?" After asking this question, even Bai Meiyue felt a bit helpless. She knew that Shen Zhen had a strong sense of duty and she even respected it but she truly couldn’t understand why Shen Zhen was so stubborn.
Did she really have to save those people who were stuck in the hospital? They were not worth it if they sent elderly nurses, a young woman who wasn’t any older than twenty and a young man along with several kids outside to fend for themselves. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"I have to go back." Shen Zhen’s voice was quite firm as she told Bai Meiyue about her decision. When she saw the exasperated look on Bai Meiyue’s face, Shen Zhen immediately explained, "It’s not that I want to save everyone; it’s just that we have some really sick patients, and we also took a few orphans under our care when they had nowhere to go but we don’t have so many supplies. So we can only come out and look for supplies ourselves."
After that, Shen Zhen told Bai Meiyue about the situation at the hospital. It was just as Bai Meiyue expected. The number of zombies at the hospital was too large and it was hard for anyone to go in and go out. Shen Zhen and the rest had to take a great deal of risk to get out of the hospital.
They actually climbed down the waterpipe!
They left the hospital early in the morning but with so many staggering zombies, they could only move very carefully and slowly. Thus, by the time they arrived at the mall, it was already one in the afternoon.
As for how they were able to survive till now, it was all thanks to Zhou Hengbei, who was trained in martial arts. He somehow managed to fend off the zombies and protected them from the other survivors; if not for Zhou Hengbei, they would have truly lost their lives.
Only then did Bai Meiyue understand why this woman was carrying such a big bag of supplies. It was because of the children staying in the city hospital. Her eyes softened as she asked, "Do you have newborns included in the list of survivors?"
"Yes." Speaking about the newborns, Shen Zhen became listless again. The children were too young and the virus in the air was too strong; even though they were kept in a completely sterile room, no one knew what the situation was at the moment.
With so many survivors wanting to break into the incubator room because of the number of zombies increasing with each passing second, the lives of those children were in danger.
