"Are you?" Mother Bai scoffed. She, too, didn’t want to say such harsh words to her daughter, but who asked Bai Meiyue to be this bold? Her daughter actually snuck out of the house when everyone was asleep, and only heaven knew where she went and what kind of dangerous mission she was taking on.

Maybe she might not even find out about it. However, Mother Bai knew her daughter well enough to know that she was doing something dangerous. "Why don’t you tell me?" Lei Qian, instead of answering her question, asked a question in return. He was still smiling as he said to Bai Meiyue, "What am I doing here?" He unfolded his arms and slowly got to his feet as he walked over to where Bai Meiyue was standing, causing the woman to take a step away from her.

She heard him say, "Imagine my surprise when I came to look for you, worried that you wouldn’t be able to sleep, and in return, what I found was nothing but a bunch of pillows. Yueyue, how many times do I have to tell you that Xiao Cai is not your son alone? You can’t put my son in danger like this all the time."

"What do you mean by putting your son in danger?" Bai Meiyue was speechless and a little angry. What did he mean by that? She was putting her son’s life in danger. When he wasn’t with her, then she cared for her son on her own.
