Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground novel Chapter 1270

Chapter 1270: Wind

"Em, Atticus..." Zenon began, voice tense, but Atticus cut him off.

"I know." Atticus’ voice was no less serious. The situation was that tense after all.

A bombardment of attacks was all they could currently see. It rained down towards them, promising nothing but devastation.

However, neither of them could use their mana.

They had tried everything in their power to move their mana but to no avail. Without mana, and with Will being restricted, how the fuck were they supposed to defend against this bombardment?

The tension in Atticus’ voice didn’t reflect his expression. Despite the bombardment, he looked as calm as a still lake. He glanced downward, mind spinning.

’Another trap.’

Reaching this place, the mountainous region wasn’t the only thing that had revealed itself.

Another sigil, glowing even brighter than the one before, had formed beneath them, covering the entire space.

And it did far more than simply change mana signatures in the air. Right now, it had also turned the mana around them docile and unresponsive.

No matter how much they tried, it wasn’t responding. And without their wills to impose command, it was next to impossible to regain control.

’They were watching.’ This was why Atticus’ voice had been tense. The trap they entered in the wasteland hadn’t been some kind of first challenge, no. It had been a test.

Who would set up that sort of test and not watch how it unfolded? It was a test to see how Atticus would handle it.

To see what other tricks he had up his sleeve. Atticus had used the mana shield and negated the mana within it, so they had taken his ability to use the shield. Without the shield, he couldn’t negate the mana. Therefore, he couldn’t defend against this bombardment.

It was an ingenious plan, and it was understandable when it came from a world focused on military might.

However, unfortunately, this was a fact that Atticus had foreseen. Even until now, people, and apparently even stars, keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

But Atticus couldn’t blame the stars. They were beings beyond comprehension, but Atticus had been tricking them all from the beginning.

Mana was needed to control the elements. To fuel it. To manipulate and use it. This was the truth. During this Virelenna, Atticus had been using the mana to control the elements.

However, the elements still existed, and this was the mistake people kept on making.

Atticus didn’t need to manipulate or control the elements. No. He was the elements.

The attacks reached them, and one word rolled off Atticus’ lips.

"Fusion," he declared, and became the elements of water, fire, air, and earth.

A dark crimson aura exploded from him in a spiral of light, spreading out in all directions.

It surged outward and soon made contact with all of the attacks, and, akin to a storm swallowing fire, as sudden as it appeared, most of them vanished, swallowed by the energy.
