Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground novel Chapter 1273

Chapter 1273: Bex

Oberon shook his thoughts away a second time.

"Even I doubted myself at some point," Oberon said, voice tight. "Who would’ve thought this would happen."

"Apparently, you," Jenera replied, her voice just as tense. "Without you, we’d be having a very different conversation right now."

Oberon exhaled deeply, calming the rising chill in his chest. "So... how do we deal with this?"

They were currently in the heart of a vast desert, not a single green in sight for miles. The sun beat down, hot and merciless, but none of the Eldorians gathered seemed to feel its scorching rays.

Many of them wore varying expressions, but one emotion took precedence: dread.

Oberon glanced at the people standing beside him and felt a bit of reassurance. Aside from the Eldorians that Atticus had taken with him, the rest were currently gathered.

Avalon stood at the forefront, the temperature around him searing, his eyes blazing.

The others were no less tense.

Despite the blazing sun, all eyes were fixed on the five figures standing at a distance.

Four of them looked like they had come for war, clad in tight fitting black military uniforms, expressions hard, aura cold and overwhelming. They stood still, like soldiers awaiting a command.

In front of them stood a man who looked like he belonged in a royal procession rather than a battlefield.

He wore an elaborate robe of black and gold, with the image of a fierce beast emblazoned across it. He stood straight, chin up, hands clasped behind his back.

He gazed at the Eldorians with the bearing of a ruler, regal, composed, commanding.

"Warriors," the man’s voice rang out, authoritative, calm, and filled with power.

"I am Nex, the god of the great world of Vortharion."

Despite the calm tone, the tension in the air only worsened. Many of the Eldorians tensed.

A god.

They had seen what Atticus could do. The impossible things he was capable of. And now, this being was considered to be on the same level as that monstrous boy.

Could they win?

Of everyone, only Avalon’s expression remained unchanged. He stood tall, unflinching, eyes locked on Nex.

Then Nex spoke again, voice steady:

"If you haven’t already figured it out, this is the next scenario in the Virelenna. My goal is to reach the core of your world. Your god has also been given the same goal to achieve in mine. He will fail."

His cold eyes swept over each Eldorian.

"Now, while it is unfortunate for your god and champions, I will become the god of this world. And I will need more soldiers, warriors who will fight for me. The wise choice would be to lay down your arms and lead me to your core. It will save needless pain and suffering. You have five seconds."

As if to drive the point home, the soldiers behind him unleashed their auras, massive and suffocating, blanketing the space around them like a wave.

"What do you think? Sounds tempting?" Oberon asked dryly.

Jenera snorted. "Bunch of bullocks." She cursed. "We have to hold him here. I don’t want to be the one to explain that we let an enemy god stroll past us when he returns."

"The god just claimed he’ll fail. You still believe he’ll return?"

Jenera turned toward Oberon. "Do you have even the slightest doubt he will fail?"

A wide smile spread across Oberon’s face.

"No."

He couldn’t see it, Atticus failing. If that boy ever fell, he would probably drag the entire lower planes down with him.

His end would be nothing less than grand.
