Violette looked at him and said, "Can you let me eat in peace? I haven't even talked to him about these things yet."
Mike asked with a puzzled look, "You two were together all afternoon, what have you been discussing? And why did I see him coming down from upstairs? Did he sleep in your room?"
Violette frowned, "You're such a pain."
"Alright, I’ll shut up. You eat first!" Mike said, his heart aching at the sight of her frail figure.
Violette picked up a spoon and took a bite of her soup. It was still hot.
The two kids were staring at her without blinking. She blushed, "Why are you two staring at me?"
Rita asked, "Mom, if you have another baby, will you still love me and my brother?"
"Of course! Mom will always love you and your brother." She loved them so much, so she didn't want Elijah to know they existed.
Rita let out a sigh of relief, batting her big eyes, "Is the baby in your belly a boy or a girl?"
Violette couldn't help laughing, "Sweetie, the baby in mom's belly is still very small, we don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet!"
Rita exclaimed in surprise, "Wow…"
"The baby isn't even as big as an egg yet."
Rita was even more surprised, "Were my brother and I like that when we were small?"
"Yes, everyone starts small and slowly grows."
Rita nodded, then asked, "Mom, why can't you eat? Is it because the baby in your belly won't let you?"
Ian felt that Rita was asking too many questions and disturbing their mom's meal, so he took her hand and led her to their room.
His words made Violette tense up.
The Bourne family.
A black Rolls-Royce pulled up in the yard. Elijah got out of the car and before he could even steady himself, Makayla grabbed his arm, "Brother, I need my ID."
Elijah looked at his sister's anxious expression and sighed deeply, "Makayla, which is more important, me or your ID?"
Makayla was taken aback, "Both are important."
He didn't expect her to be so clear-headed and capable. This was the happiest day he'd had since their mother passed away. Makayla's health condition was noticeably improving, and Violette was pregnant with his child. He went into his study, took out her ID, and handed it to her.
"Makayla, your ID is very important. If you lose it, you must tell me immediately," he instructed.
Makayla nodded solemnly, "I'll keep it in my room. I won't lose it."
