Awake for Love: My Coma Bridegroom novel Chapter 640

“Why didn’t you bring any bodyguards? Do you realize you’re a public figure?” Her arched brows displayed her sudden anger. “You think you’re safe just because you’re here? The crime rate here is way higher than it is back home!”

He stared at her flushed face, at a loss for words. “Violette, no need to get upset. I decided to come here on a whim.” He explained, “The next flight out didn’t have any available seats, so I didn’t bring my bodyguard.”

“Couldn’t you wait for another flight with your bodyguard?” She complained, though her anger was slowly subsiding. “You’re staying at my place tonight.”

“Okay.”

“You planned this, didn’t you?” Her suspicion grew. “Did your bodyguard really not come?”

“What happened to our trust?” He looked at her. “There are a thousand ways for me to stay at your place. Lying to you isn’t one of them.”

Her face reddened at her own suspicion.

Back at the house.

When Ian got home, he found Mike in the living room, eating takeout and drinking beer.

“Ian, didn’t I fix that website this morning? But they just shut it down.” Mike shook his head in disappointment. “I bet they were hiding something.”

“Huh.” Ian was distracted. “Elijah came to see mom.”

Mike knew about this, so he wasn’t surprised. “Ian, don’t be upset. You’re a man, so you need to face reality.” Mike tried to comfort him, “Your mom loves Elijah. Even if they fight all the time, that doesn’t change anything.”

Ian pouted, clearly not persuaded.

“That’s love.” Mike continued, “You’re too young to understand. You will when you’re older.”

Violette could already foresee a disastrous night. Before she went to her room, she checked on Ian. Ian had just taken a shower. His hair was damp. But his sleepy expression suggested he was about to doze off.

She quickly went into his room, using a hairdryer to dry his hair. After his hair was dry, she patted his head. “Sweetheart, Elijah came without his bodyguards this time, so I invited him to stay over.”

Ian nodded. “Mom, I’m tired. You should go to bed too.”

Violette also nodded, returning to her room. At 2 AM, her phone screen lit up, and the ringtone was echoing in the room. She was jolted awake, picking up the phone to answer the call. Ten minutes later, she was rushing out of her room with her bag.

The living room light was on. Mike and Elijah sprawled out on the couch, both drunk out of their minds. Neither had won. She knew it would end up like this.

She glanced at them and quickly headed for the door. There was trouble at the company.
