CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE
LEWIS
Given my position and the many extraordinary things I have in my life, my emotions have long been tampered. There were only a few things that could make me happy, and even fewer things that could make me excited. Above all, in the past, there was not a single thing that made me flustered.
So, that I was surprised was an understatement when I felt my heart beat faster as I looked at those shy-looking and yet bright eyes that were sneaking side glances at me. “This…’I blinked and aimlessly looked in front of me. ‘My heart is beating faster, and I can’t seem to stay calm. Am I feeling flustered?’ I thought to myself. ‘Am I feeling this way… because Lia thought I looked cool?’ I felt a warm tingling sensation on my cheeks. ‘How is it like this? I was just feeling angry, but just one sentence from her, I am not feeling flustered instead.’
Though I was feeling anything but calm inside, on the outside, my face grew colder and colder as seconds passed by. Of course, the anger that I felt did entirely dissipate. However, the true reason for my current expression was to hide the smile that was attempting to escape from my
lips.
The prince and the lady saw my expression and their faces turned more serious. “Talascar, the royal family is-” Halen started to say but stopped. Instead, he frowned for a few seconds before he said, “You are a key figure in the whole werekind and we don’t want to tarnish our relationship with you.” “This matter is of grave importance. But considering that Lady Adelia is your mate, all we would ask from her is her cooperation,” he added.
The royal family is above all werewolves, and the head of the royal family is the lord of all werekind. Needless to say, the lord just needed to say a word and we had to follow his or her every word. That they were willing to ask for Lia’s cooperation instead of ordering her to fight against that bastard showed the respect that they had for me. I knew that, and yet, I was not satisfied.
I took Lia under my protection and the deal was only between us. To think that they would place the werekind’s safety on Lia’s small shoulder just because she was some goddess in her past life made me irked. Moreover, the fact that the royal family butted in our relationship not even a day after Lia and I met was getting in my nerve. “Prince,” I snapped. “If your words are true, don’t you think that the werekind is being so shameless?”
“Ah?” Halen gave me a confused look “If Lia is indeed the reincarnation of a deity that helped contain the wind god, it only means
that for our safety, she already sacrificed herself once. Even as a goddess, she allowed her soul to be entrapped in the prison with the wind god for thousands of years. And now that she finally reincarnated, you want her to sacrifice herself once more?” I coldly said.
Halen’s eyes trembled upon hearing my statement. On his side, Lady Regina looked a little flushed. My words seemed to affect them more than I thought. Unfortunately, I was not done and still had a lot of things to say. Suddenly, I felt a soft hand holding mine. I blinked in surprise and looked at the small figure in my arms.
