Chapter 116
“Why are you being quiet? Is Jerome caring for another woman making you sad again?” Celeste teased Mikayla when she saw her frowned thoughtfully.
Mikayla rolled her eyes at Celeste.
“Do you think a five–star hotel would have such an accident for no reason?”
“It shouldn’t happen,” Celeste said. “Do you think there’s something suspicious about Kylie’s Injury?”
Suspicion was inevitable, but Jerome should have already investigated the cause.
If nothing was found, it meant Kylie had executed her plan perfectly.
Mikayla doubted she would find anything even if she investigated.
Even if she did find something, Jerome would likely think she had ulterior motives, and even misunderstood that she couldn’t let him go.
Anyway, it was Kylie who was hurt.
As long as she didn’t care about Jerome, Kylie’s plan would have no impact on her.
“Let’s not talk about this anymore. I have some news to tell you!” Mikayla’s tone brightened.
“What news?”
“Jerome agreed to sign the divorce agreement. As long as Mrs. Miller Senior is not alarmed, it’s possible for us to get the divorce certificate tomorrow!”
Celeste was surprised.
“Did Jerome really agree to it? Didn’t he say a few days ago that he needed the consent of both side’s parents? How did he change his mind so quickly?”
Mikayla chuckled.
“He just wanted to make things difficult for me. With Kylie seriously injured this time, he’s probably afraid that if it drags on, I’ll hurt Kylie even more.”
“Hold on! Jerome suspects you are the one who’s responsible for Kylie’s injury?” Celeste realized something. “Is he out of his mind? He knows you well. If you had a grudge against someone else, you would’ve settled it right there. Why would you make such a fuss?”
Mikayla was silent for a while before saying, “I can’t tell if you’re complimenting me for being straightforward or mocking me for being brainless.”
Celeste ignored her playful remarks and asked, “Kay, did you insist on getting a divorce because of this?”
Mikayla was laying on her bed, flipping through a magazine.
She said casually, “It’s one of the reasons. I can’t explain everything. Anyway, we’re not compatible, and I
don’t want to be tied to him by marriage. Consider it a mutual liberation.”
Before she could finish speaking, Mikayla heard the door slam.
She looked up and saw Jerome.
She wasn’t certain if he had overheard her conversation earlier, but his face was even colder and more forbidding than before
“You-
Mikayla was about to question him about why he had returned, but his angered appearance made her swallow her words.
Jerome didn’t say anything.
He walked to the bedside.
He took his pillow and grabbed his glasses and other belongings
He then slammed the door again before leaving
From entering to leaving, the entire thing happened for only a few seconds
