Chapter 12
Taylor’s car had collided with a large cement pillar on the roadside. The rear end was almost completely deformed. It looked more severe than Jerome’s car.
At this moment, an ambulance siren could be heard.
Soon, paramedics lifted Taylor out of the car.
“He has no obvious external injuries and no signs of fractures. We suspect that he lost consciousness due to the airbag’s impact…”
Hearing the paramedic’s words, Mikayla breathed a sigh of relief.
At the same time, she found it strange. Why did Taylor and Jerome hate each other so much? Were they willing to risk their own lives just because they were business rivals?
When Mikayla and Jerome came out of the police station, the sky outside had turned dark.
They heard that Taylor had regained consciousness. He didn’t suffer any serious injuries. He simply had a slight concussion from hitting his head on the steering wheel. He would need a few days of rest in the hospital.
Surprisingly, neither Taylor nor Jerome insisted on holding the other accountable for today’s incident. They were willing to take responsibility for what they did.
Since the accident occurred on a wide road with few cars, and they didn’t cause damage to other vehicles, the police didn’t pursue the matter further.
Mikayla wanted to ask Jerome about his relationship with Taylor, but jerome remained cold–faced. Sensing his reluctance, she suppressed her curiosity.
Mike arrived at the entrance in his car.
Mikayla said, “I won’t bother you guys. I’ll grab a cab.”
Jerome was occupied with various matters. He rarely went home. She thought he must have a lot more to deal with after what happened today.
However, Jerome flashed her a cold face after hearing her considerate words.
“You think you haven’t caused enough trouble yet? Do you want to get into more trouble?

Mikayla was confused. “What do you mean?”
Jerome responded with a cold sneer.
Realization dawned on Mikayla. “I am serious about the divorce! Colliding with Taylor’s car was merely an accident.”
“How did Taylor know you? Did you announce your identity the moment you saw him?”
It was too complicated. Even if Mikayla explained it, Jerome wouldn’t believe her anyway Mikayla didn’t want to waste her breath.
“It’s my fault for causing you trouble today. Next time, you don’t have to bother. I can handle it myself.”
Jerome’s face darkened. “Do you mean there will be a next time?”
“Mr. Miller, Mrs. Miller, it’s quite late now. Both of you must be tired. How about I take you back to the villa for some rest?” Mike interrupted them at the right time. He then opened the back door.
Ignoring Jerome, Mikayla went straight to the passenger seat.
Jerome stood there unmoving.
Observing the gloomy expression on his boss‘ face, Mike decided to play dumb. He was just an assistant. He couldn’t solve such a difficult problem.
Jerome eventually got into the car. The atmosphere immediately turned tense.
Taking the driver’s seat, Mike felt a freeze settling in, reminiscent of an ice cellar. In an effort to warm things up, he decided to engage Mikayla in conversation
“Mrs. Miller, my mom likes the aromatherapy essential oil you gave me last time. Her sleep has improved a lot.”
In the past, Mikayla often gave gifts to Jerome’s assistants and secretaries in an attempt to learn more about him.
Mike usually declined. But he accepted the aromatherapy essential oil she had crafted last
time.
Mikayla smiled. “I’ll make some more for your mother another day.”
“Thank you, Mrs. Miller.”
Jerome sneered. “You put in so much effort to please everyone, yet you claim the divorce
is serious.
“It’s up to you whether to believe. Rest assured, I will never try to please you again.”
Jerome scoffed. “Who cares?”
Soon, they arrived at Dragoncrest Villa. Mikayla got out of the car. Ignoring Jerome, she went straight into the house.
“Sir, you’re back.”
