Chapter 13
Jerome said, “Where do you think you’re going? You should apply the ointment for me.”
“Sorry, I’m not a doctor, and I don’t have an obligation to do that.” Mikayla coldly refused.
Jerome’s displeasure intensified. She seemed worried about him earlier. Why did her mood change so fast? Her mood swings were terrible.
“Obligation? Think about how I got injured.”
Mikayla thought he wouldn’t have gotten injured if he hadn’t recklessly crashed into Taylor’s car.
However, Jerome clearly wanted to settle scores with her, and she wasn’t in the mood to argue with him. She reckoned that applying some ointment wouldn’t take long.
Amy approached with a medical kit. Frowning, Mikayla picked up a cotton swab and alcohol.
“Sir, Madam, I’ll continue with my work. Call me if you need anything.”
Amy left, and Mikayla started to deal with Jerome’s wounds.
Although the scratches on his arms weren’t very serious, there were several places where the flesh was exposed. There was also quite a bit of blood.
Jerome’s wounds stung as the alcohol came into contact with them. He frowned but didn’t say anything.
Mikayla tried to be gentle.
“It’s done.”
After applying the medicine to his arm, Mikayla prepared to put away the medical kit and
wash her hands.
“My forehead is hurt, too.” Jerome wasn’t happy with her perfunctory attitude.
In the past, she would be worried sick even by a small scratch on his fingernail. Yet, she didn’t notice all of his wounds today.
Mikayla glanced at the wound on Jerome’s forehead. There was a cut near his temple,
close to his hairline.

He must have gotten it from the shattered glass. The blood had dried up.
Without saying anything, she continued tending to the wounds.
Jerome sat on the sofa while Mikayla stood beside him to make things easier.
They were very close. Mikayla’s slender waist was slightly bent, and a few strands of her hair brushed against Jerome’s face. Her unique fragrance filled his nostrils.
Suddenly, Jerome felt somewhat stuffy. He reached out and unbuttoned a few of his top
buttons.
“Don’t move,” Mikayla said, holding his head in place.
Mikayla’s warm hand pressed against his forehead. Jerome felt his throat drying up.
He raised his gaze, wanting to distract himself. But then he saw the focused expression on Mikayla’s face. Her skin was fair. It looked so soft that even the tiny hairs were visible.
Her nose was petite, while her lips were plump and glistening.
Out of nowhere, Jerome had an urge to bite her.
Following his instincts, he reached out and embraced Mikayla’s neck.
Unprepared for the sudden move, Mikayla leaned down. In the instant before their lips. met, she twisted her head to the side.
Her cheek pressed against his lips.
The gentle and smooth feeling, coupled with a subtle fragrance, engulfed Jerome. He pulled her closer to him.
“What are you doing?” Mikayla struggled to stand up. She glared at him.
Jerome snapped out of it. His expression turned cold. “Don’t try to seduce me while you’re treating my wounds.”
“Are you crazy?” Mikayla was furious. She angrily dropped the cotton swab she was holding and went upstairs.
Watching her swaying figure, Jerome couldn’t help recalling the soft sensation when he held her earlier.
Clenching his fists, Jerome suddenly felt thirsty. He went to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of cold water.

Meanwhile, Mikayla lay on the bed in her room. She felt a sense of defeat and frustration.
She had decided not to cling to Jerome anymore. Yet, she couldn’t help feeling anxious upon learning about his injuries.
Jerome felt even more convinced that her divorce proposal was just an act.
