Chapter 144
Matilda had too much influence on Louisa, causing her to hate Mikayla so deeply.
Since she couldn’t argue with Louisa about these matters, she said, “I’ll send it to you later.”
Still, she couldn’t help but ask, “Last time, I saw that you had no interest in Jensen. Why has your relationship with him improved so much in just a few days?”
“It’s none of your business!” Louisa said, then hung up the phone.
Mikayla was speechless.
After sending a screenshot of the website to Louisa, she walked out of the gym.
As she was getting into the car, she felt like someone was staring at her from behind. She looked back but didn’t see anyone suspicious.
Perhaps it was just her imagination. She started the car and returned to Dragoncrest Villa.
When she entered, Amy ran over hurriedly. “Madam, Mr. Miller is back. He’s in the study upstairs dealing with some business matters.
“I just made some tea. Could you please bring it to him? He also said that his hand still hurts and has asked me to get some ointment for him. Madam, I’m sorry to trouble you.
“By the way, he has also asked when you’d be back.”
Mikayla was worried that Amy would continue nagging if she disagreed, so she took the tea and
ointment from her.
“Alright. I’ll go.
She carried the tea and walked to the study upstairs, then knocked on the door. Jerome’s clear voice came from inside. “Come in.”
Mikayla opened the door and saw him sitting at a large desk with a computer in front of him.
He looked solemn as he flipped through some documents. His brows were furrowed inadvertently, and he exuded a serious air.
Thinking that she was Amy, Jerome didn’t look up and said, “Just put the things on the table.”
Mikayla followed his orders and placed the tea and ointment next to him.
Maybe he sensed that the person was different, so he raised his eyes.
When he saw her, he showed a hint of surprise.
“Did you just come back?” Jerome asked casually.
She had asked him this question before and never thought that he would one day ask her the
same thing.
Mikayla withdrew her gaze and said, “Amy is too busy, so she’s asked me to bring these up for you.
“You’re just in time. Please help me apply the ointment.”
Jerome stretched out his right hand toward her. The usually fair and smooth skin on his hand had become wrinkled and a bit ugly.
“Didn’t you apply any ointment on it in the past two days?” Mikayla asked, wrinkling her nose.
He sneered. “Stop making such a disgusted expression. Think about who I’m suffering this for.”
Mikayla didn’t want to recall the incident that night. She applied the ointment to Jerome’s hand
with a cotton swab.
