Chapter 168
Taylor’s tone was lazy.
“What? Have you given up on Jerome? Interested in me now?”
Mikayla rolled her eyes.
She just got rid of a narcissistic guy, now here came another.
“Don’t worry. I’m not interested in a shameless and narcissistic man like you.”
“Oh, are you angry?”
“Quit your nonsense. I have something important to discuss with you.”
“Come to my office.”
Mikayla arrived at Taylor’s office.
He still had the same lazy demeanor as before.
He rested his legs leisurely on the desk.
He was holding his phone, looking at something.
She could hear the song “Stayin Alive” being played.
Curious, she approached Taylor and saw the video of her playing the drums.
“Mr. Blue, you’re watching a video of me alone in your office. Are you interested in me?” Mikayla mimicked what he said before.
Taylor showed no signs of anger.
Instead, he responded enthusiastically, “Actually, if you decided to break up with Jerome and get together with me, I wouldn’t reject you. After all, you’re talented and capable.”
“Thank you, but I’ll pass.”
“What makes me inferior to him?”
“Your arrogance.”
“You’ll understand it someday. It’s an advantage.” Taylor tossed his phone aside. “So,
what’s the rush about?”
Mikayla took out her phone and opened a document.
“Does this look familiar to you?”
Taylor took a glance at it.
“Isn’t this the pharmaceutical research institute that Jerome invested in?”
Mikayla asked, “You took me to disrupt Jerome’s meeting because you were interested in this project, right?”
Taylor chuckled.
“Mrs. Miller, are you kidding? Jerome has already invested in it. So what if I’m interested?”
Whenever Taylor wanted to ridicule her, he would address her as “Mrs. Miller” to provoke
her.
Mikayla said, “And? Can’t the rest invest?”
Taylor was starting to lose his patience.
“You probably weren’t aware. Jerome’s investment was for personal reasons, not because he was actually interested in the project. Developing a new drug is not as simple as it seems. If it succeeds, reputation and money will follow. But if it fails, everything will be in
vain.”
Taylor’s implication was that he wasn’t interested.
Mikayla was well aware that the drug would have good prospects in the future, but Jensen had priced it too high, leading to criticism of the drug.
She hadn’t expected Jensen to be the one distributing the drug developed by Baldwin’s
research institute.
She managed to confirm it based on her vague memories and a few blurry keywords.
In her past life, Baldwin’s team didn’t launch the drug under the institute’s name.
Instead, they let Jensen distribute it.
