Chapter 177

Jerome looked like he’d given up.
“Just pick any position at the CEO’s office. Find Mike, and he’ll sort it out for you.”
Mikayla mentioned wanting to work at the CEO’s office when she had just graduated.
Being next to him meant that he would never be out of her sight.
She found it surprising that he actually remembered what she said.
Yet, she now detested the idea of working at his office–she wants to stay as far as she could from him.
She bet he wouldn’t believe her even if she told him.
It was only ten days until their divorce, so she simply stayed silent and got in her
car.
Just as she was about to start the engine, Jerome slipped into the front seat as well.
“Mikayla, I’m not done yet. Why are you leaving?”
He looked upset.
Mikayla glared at him.
“What are you not done with? Work? No thanks, but I’m not interested in any of the positions at the CEO’s office. Let some other schmuck take on the job instead.”
Jerome clenched his jaw as he picked up on her impatient expression.
“What do you want, Mikayla?”
“I want you to get out of my car,” she snapped. “Leave.”
He said in a clipped tone, “I’m going back with you.”
“I’m not going home.”
“Where are you going?”

“It’s none of your business.”
Mikayla’s blatant refusal had Jerome reach the end of his tether.
It made him seem like he was clinging onto her.
His urge to file a divorce no longer overwhelmed him, as he could see himself spending the rest of his life with her.
Yet, he wouldn’t coerce her into staying with him if all his efforts to make it up to her were in vain.
He quickly got out of her car.
The thought of lecturing her crossed his mind briefly, but her car zoomed off in an instant just as he stepped out of the car.
Jerome was astounded.
Mikayla arrived at Eduard’s place.
Her eyes grew moist when she saw him busy himself with gardening.
She was relieved that she still had him in this life.
“Kay, why aren’t you coming in?” Eduard noticed her.
She brushed a tear off subtly and replied, “I’ve just arrived. I kept quiet since you were busy.”
Eduard chuckled.
“Silly girl. Come help me weed.”
“Sure.”
Mikayla picked up a tiny garden hoe and began helping him out in the garden.
