Chapter 227
Jerome was unfazed.
“The company staff thinks we’re inseparable. We can’t let them find out we are sleeping in separate rooms,” he said.
Mikayla thought it was pointless. There was less than a week until their divorce.
She kept this notion to herself since she feared that he might think that she was angry.
Instead, she taunted, “Jerome, if you need a woman to satisfy your urges, there are plenty of women out there who are more than willing to do so. Don’t come to me instead–you’re putting yourself in a tough
spot.”
Jerome shot a scathing glare at her, obviously triggered by her obscenity.
“You slipped in my arms earlier. You were scantily dressed, and you were so close to me. It’s natural for me to have an erection–I’m a man, after all. I’m not a saint,” he said.
It sounded like something he’d say.
Mikayla had to admit that she wasn’t careful enough in the afternoon. The floor was slippery, and she accidentally fell into his arms.
She couldn’t be bothered to argue with him.
She strode toward the bathroom, leaving him to hoard the desk.
She took a shower and washed her hair.
After spraying her shoulder with the pain relief spray, she washed her hands.
She put on a face mask, and began her skincare routine. She spent at least an hour in the b
Jerome was still reading through his emails on his laptop when she came out.
She felt more at ease knowing he was being engrossed in his work. He’d be too occupied to do anything
inappropriate.
Mikayla wasn’t in the mood to sleep yet.
Looking at her slightly wet locks, she decided to blow dry them again..
Just as she was able to enter the bathroom, she heard Jerome’s phone ringing.
She noticed his face immediately fell after someone on the other end said something. His tone grew solemn as he inquired, “How did this happen? I’ll be there right now.”
It seemed like an emergency occurred.
She was just pondering on his reaction when he glanced over at her.
He opened his mouth, but he pressed his lips together promptly, as if he was reminded of something.

In the end, Jerome said nothing.
He left right away after grabbing his car keys and jacket.
Mikayla couldn’t be bothered to guess what happened.
She couldn’t deal with his work, and she had no intention of being involved in his personal matters.
After she dried her hair, she plopped herself down on the sheets and began to sort her photos.
Her smile was radiant in the pictures. Celeste said that she’d look younger if she smiled a lot more.
She doubted Celeste, yet she agreed that she looked gorgeous in the pictures.
She selected a few stunning and aesthetically pleasing pictures to post on her social media. She soon received a couple of likes.
Michael texted her, asking her whether she’d been practicing. He mentioned that he’d test her on their next session, and he sounded perfectly serious.
Mikayla ignored him, and instead struck up a conversation with him regarding his competition,
He said he had passed the preliminary audition and completed the shoot for it.
His next challenge would be to qualify as one of the 70 among the 100 participants. He would have a two- day leave once the shoot was over.
