Chapter 51
Jerome ignored Taylor.
As Mike wrapped things up, Mikayla and Jerome made their way out of the bar.
Mikayla abruptly swung away from Jerome’s grasp.
Jerome’s demeanor shifted, and he said icily, “Hand your car key over to the
driver. You’ll ride in my car.”
Mikayla was skeptical.
“How did you know I brought my car?”
Jerome replied in an unpleasant tone, “Anyone could spot it with a color and
plate as eye–catching as yours.”
Mikayla was at a loss for words.
Eduard had gifted the Maserati that Mikayla owned as her dowry for her
marriage. It was painted bright red, and the license plate comprised her initials and birthdate. Though not understated, it wasn’t as ostentatious as Jerome
described.
Meanwhile, the driver had exited the car. Mikayla handed him the keys without
hesitation and tactfully sat in the passenger seat.
As Jerome revved the car, Mikayla couldn’t help but ask, “Why were you here
around this hour?”
This place wasn’t close to Miller Group, nor was it in the direction of
Dragoncrest Villa.
Jerome coldly glared at her.
“How about you tell me first? Why were you at Taylor’s bar, even cozying up in
the booth with him? Since when were you guys get so close?”
Jerome had asked Mikayla that same question before the car accident.
And she had clarified that they weren’t close.
She wondered if it meant that they had now grown closer.
Of course, Mikayla wouldn’t be foolish enough to confess to Jerome that she intended to partner with Taylor against Bernhal Enterprise.
If their collaboration was successful, she could’ve confronted Jerome about it.
However, their relationship had soured, and Taylor even intended to harm her.
To preserve her pride and dignity, Mikayla was reluctant to confess.
She then replied indifferently. “Thanks for coming to my rescue. But who I meet and what relationships I have are none of your concern.”
Jerome was infuriated by Mikayla’s seeming admission.
“Mikayla, don’t forget you’re a married woman.”
Mikayla scoffed and rebuked, “And what about you having dinner and bathing at Kylie’s place? Did you suddenly forget you’re a married man?”
Jerome was unsure of Mikayla’s reference to bathing. Still, Mikayla had always tended to blow trivial issues out of proportion when they involved Kylie.
Jerome furrowed his brows.
“We’ve known each other for years, and it wasn’t news to you!”
Mikayla chuckled in exasperation.
“Sure, you’ve been friends for ages. So, am I supposed to put up with your indecisiveness without question?”
Jerome was taken aback by her accusation.
“I’m asking for an answer, Mikayla. Don’t change the subject!”
Mikayla replied, “It’s all the same to me. I’m not in charge of your affairs, and I

don’t need you to meddle in mine.”
At the sight of Mikayla’s cold and distant demeanor, Jerome felt a combination
of anger and frustration.
