Chapter 50
Taylor manufactured a sinister smirk.
Try playing games with me, and I’ll make you regret it. Even if it means breaking the law!”
Taylor’s threatening demeanor and the approaching bodyguard caused
Mikayla to feel a tinge of regret.
Mikayla had been overly confident. She had assumed her knowledge of her
past life could secure a deal with Taylor.
What she hadn’t done was delve into Taylor’s true character.
Now that he turned hostile, Mikayla wondered how she could escape.
She weighed up what would happen if he genuinely tied her up.
Considering Jerome’s hatred toward her, Mikayla pondered if he would step in.
Even if he did, she was reluctant to be indebted to him.
“Go ahead and hide, but I’ll find you!”
Taylor rose to his feet and walked toward her.
The second floor had been completely cleared by Taylor. It left Mikayla without
any hope of help.
“I dare anyone to touch her!”
While Mikayla debated if she should shatter a bottle and use the glass on her
neck or Taylor’s as leverage, a chilly voice resonated from behind.
It was Jerome.
Perhaps Mikayla had been mistaken. But at that moment, she noticed a hint of
worry flicker across Jerome’s gaze.
“Look who’s here! You got here just in time, Mr. Miller. I didn’t even get a chance to send you a message!”
Jerome ignored Taylor and directly approached Mikayla.
Furrowing his brows, he asked, “Is everything alright?”
Mikayla nodded.
“Let’s go.”
Without saying much, Jerome indicated Mikayla to leave with him.
Taylor’s bodyguards abruptly blocked their path.
“Mr. Miller, the matter hasn’t been settled yet, and you’re leaving already?”
Jerome gazed at him with a chilly edge.
“Well, I do intend to have you clarify the reason for abducting my wife.”
As Jerome spoke, two imposing men in black suits approached and stood
beside him.
Considering the numbers and strength, Taylor’s lone bodyguard was clearly disadvantaged.
Mikayla didn’t expect Jerome’s arrival, let alone with reinforcements.
“Mr. Miller! You seemed to have come prepared. By the way, do you know who owns this bar?” Taylor remarked with an ambiguous smile.
A sense of unease crept within Mikayla.
She evaluated if Jerome’s two bodyguards would be enough if Taylor did
indeed own the bar.
Mikayla began feeling worried as she recalled the previous car accident.
She considered where the safest place to hide would be if they were to erupt into a fight.
Mistaking Mikayla’s concern for his own, Jerome clasped Mikayla’s hand.
Despite feeling uneasy with the sudden touch, Mikayla refrained from pulling away. It wasn’t the moment to fuss about such trivial matters.
“The Blue family’s got properties all over. Owning a bar is no surprise,” Jerome stated calmly.
