Betty’s lips tugged at the corner. 

She said, “The depth of our feelings is unrelated to the duration of our marriage. 

Perhaps it was Mikayla’s perception, but Betty’s emotions seemed slightly off 

today. 

She was excessively calm, like the calm before a storm. 

Mikayla wondered if Betty could also sense something off with Johnny. 

She also considered if Betty was just in a bad mood. 

“Ms. Davidson, did you invite me today for any other reason?” 

Betty took the tea and looked at Mikayla with a hint of cold mockery. 

“Feel free to speak your mind,” she said. 

Mikayla admired Betty’s observational skills. 

She didn’t deny it, “I do have something to say, but I’m not sure if it’s 

presumptuous.” 

Betty chuckled, “Johnny’s dirty deeds are being exposed and blackmailed. You 

know about it, right?” 

Mikayla was surprised, “So, Mrs. Lane, you are aware too?” 

“Call me Betty.” 

Betty’s face had a touch of disdain. 

“The identity of Mrs. Lane doesn’t seem to suit me anymore.” 

Betty informed Mikayla that she received the news last night, only then 

realizing what Johnny had done. 

Betty, what do you plan to do?” 

Mikayla was aware that they had been married for over 20 years. With family ties, children, and vested interests, divorce was a challenging option for them. 

Hence, numerous women, particularly those with stature and social standing like Betty, opted to tolerate the situation when they discovered their partner was unfaithful. They were reluctant to expose their shattered side to the world. 

Betty sipped the tea and declared, “I won’t tolerate deceit. Johnny must face the consequences for this.” 

Even if it was only their second meeting, Mikayla greatly admired Betty’s straightforward personality. 

“Have you thoroughly considered it? Ansoft is about to go public. Any mistake could be detrimental, or everything might end up in vain.” 

Indeed, practical concerns proved to be a substantial challenge. 

Destroying the hard–earned foundation in a moment of anger was not something everyone could do. 

“Do you want me to advise you to endure?” 

Betty raised her eyebrows. 

“I won’t advise you on any decision. But I know, no matter your decision, you must have your reasons. If there’s any way I can help, feel free to ask.” 

A smile appeared on Betty’s face. 

“Ms. Davidson, you and Céleste are both kind people. I’m sorry that the promise I made you before to help you cannot be fulfilled right now.” 

“It’s okay.” 

After such an incident, she couldn’t invest in Johnny again. 

“I have something to attend to. I’ll take my leave first.” 

Betty stood up, walked to the door, and suddenly turned back. 

She asked, “Ms. Davidson, if Ansoft changes their mind, do you think it’s still worth Investing in?” 

Mikayla instantly understood Betty’s implication. 

“You mean Johnny might withdraw his proprietary technology?” 

“Think about solutions and countermeasures in this regard.” 

After saying that, Betty walked out of the VIP room. 

Mikayla vaguely guessed Betty’s thoughts but hesitated to be overconfident. 

Ansoft’s appeal was based on its long history and the fame of intangible cultural heritage. If this was gone, she couldn’t predict the future.
