“Don’t worry, Jerome gave the green light for me to bring a companion,” Mikayla reassured, showing Mike the message on her phone. She had left out the part about Jerome peeking at her. 

“Will this do?” she asked. 

After checking the messages, Mike guided them toward the hotel entrance. He said, “Right this way, Mrs. Miller, Ms. Holmes,” 

Mikayla gracefully linked arms with Betty as the two walked inside the elevator. 

Upon entering the ballroom, they were enveloped in the warm glow of radiant lights. Dressed In fancy suits and gowns, the guests engaged in lively conversations, surrounded by the soft melodies in the air. 

Mike excused himself to find Jerome, leaving Mikayla and Betty to make their way to the guest area. 

When the other guests glimpsed Betty, a wave of hushed whispers rippled through the crowd. 

“Isn’t that Mrs. Lane from Ansoft Enterprise? What’s she doing here?” someone inquired. 

“That’s not Mrs. Lane anymore; she’s now Ms. Holmes after the divorce,” another commented. 

“She’s likely here seeking investors. Word is, Johnny Lane took off with Ansoft’s core technologies and a good chunk of money. The company’s facing some serious financial issues now,” a man assumed. 

“That makes sense. Look, she even brought along a charming young lady. She must be the PR manager for Ansoft,” a woman agreed. 

Just then, the guests saw Mike come over and informed Mikayla with respect, “Mrs. Miller, Mr. Miller will be joining you soon. I will be on my way.” 

Mikayla nodded and replied, “Okay.” 

A hush fell over the room after their brief exchange. 

As everyone observed, Mike proudly wore a badge announcing his role as the “CEO Assistant“. 

However, their astonishment peaked when they overheard him addressing Mikayla as “Mrs. Miller.” It suddenly dawned on them that the woman in their midst was none other than Jerome’s wife! 

A wave of astonishment swept through the crowd. 

Jerome had never mentioned a beautiful wife, nor had he brought her to any events before. What made it even more surprising was that this mysterious wife appeared with Betty Holmes. 

Despite the puzzlement, Mikayla kept smiling. She had invited Betty to the banquet on purpose to show that Ansoft Enterprise still had strong support and that the company wasn’t done for 

As for whether the Miller Group played a role as their patron, Mikayla left that to their speculation. 

Such fancy banquets usually favored the powerful and ignored the less influential. 

The moment Betty appeared alongside the spouse of Jerome Miller, nobody would dare to ridicule Ansoft Enterprise. Instead, people got curious and were now interested in the company. 

And that was exactly what Mikayla planned. 

Being the sharp and perceptive woman she was, Betty noticed the skepticism and caution in the eyes of the guests. 

With a friendly smile, she remarked, “Everyone, meet Mrs. Miller. Though she usually avoids parties, she’s here today to celebrate the special occasion.” 

Upon hearing Betty’s explanation, the guests responded with flattering compliments. 

“So, Mrs. Miller prefers to keep things low–key. Wow, you have such a lovely face and figure. We wouldn’t have guessed who you are if it wasn’t for Ms. Holmes!” someone exclaimed. 

“That’s right. You should join us more often. We’d love to get to know you better, just like Ms. Holmes,” another person added. 

Mikayla responded to the compliments with a graceful smile. 

All of a sudden, a loud voice proclaimed in the ballroom, “Mr. Miller has arrived!” 

Instantly, every gaze shifted toward the source of the voice, including Mikayla’s. 

There was Jerome, confidently making his way toward her in a sleek black suit. Even amidst the elegant crowd, none could overshadow his striking charm. It was as if he carried a spotlight with him wherever he 

went.
