Be Your Own Spring novel Chapter 34

I laughed and posed.

The result and graphics in the camera were really bomb. Even better than Zake's phone.

Remind me to thank Kezr and return him the favor.

After my photo session, we all took many photos, by we all, I mean, Layla, Elijah, Aria and Eric. I really wanted a picture with Kezr but was really scared to ask him.

When Zake put Maya on my shoulder for the photo, I felt like I was about to pass out, not because she was fat or anything but because of my noodle arms.

I asked Alex for a photo and he shook his head 'no' and sat far away from me. No, buddy, I ain't leaving you. Not today!

I went towards him and saw him sitting on the log with a far off look in his face, half of the time this kid looks really sad.

Kids don't deserve to feel sad, but knowing what's happening in his life, I can understand what he is going through.

"Hey Alex?" I asked him cautiously, not wanting him to run away again.

He didn't look at me nor did he say anything to me so, I decided to continue.

"I would really love a picture with my nephew. Can I have a photo please?"

He shook his head.

"But why? Now Iam sad, I really wanted you to be my friend."

His eyes snapped towards me and he tilted his head and cutely asked, "Friends?"

Gotcha!

"Yeah friends, I really wanted to have at least one friend."

"You can't be friends with me. To be friends with someone, you have to like them first."

"Yeah, I know. That's why Iam asking you to take a photo with me, cause I like you."

If only this was Kezr.sigh

He turned his gaze away from me and said, "You don't, you just feel sorry for me, because nobody else likes me."

"Well, that's not true, because if nobody liked you, then I wouldn't be siting here, trying to convince you, when I could rather be taking cute photos."

"You lying?"

I shook my head and said,"I promise Iam not." He smiled towards me. His first ever smile. My heart!

"Promise?" He asked still not believing me. Well, I don't blame him.

"Yeah, look, we will pinky promise." I held my pinky out towards him and saw him shake his head.

"Why not?"

"Pinky swears are for girls, Iam a boy."

"Yes, you are, but......guys can do that too. You know, my father. He liked pink, there's nothing wrong in liking pink. I like blue....see?" I said, showing him the blue scrunchie on my wrist.

He joined his pinky with mine. I kissed his cheek.

He looked at me weirdly and I said, "I don't have cooties, don't worry."
