Be Your Own Spring novel Chapter 4

It took a long time for me to finally wipe away the tears at the corner of my eyes.

I slowly turned and started packing up my meager belongings.

If my life was destined to be one where love always passed me by, then I'd rather cut ties with those who didn't love me now.

From now on, we'd go our separate ways.

No more looking back.

Soon, the day arrived for my meeting with the professor.

I grabbed my ragged backpack and walked out the door, but before I even got to the end of the driveway, my phone rang.

"Rozella Mogane, I found the witness from that accident."

"They're willing to testify for you."

"On top of that, I've uncovered some other things, related to both the Mogane and Henderson families."

"How you want to handle it is up to you."

As I looked through the files the professor sent me, my breath caught in my throat.

If this information came to light, both the Mogane and Henderson families would be in deep trouble.

While I was still processing it, Olivia Mogane suddenly appeared in front of me.

Before I could say a word, she shoved me into the pool behind me.

The cold water felt like a thousand needles piercing through me, the pain causing my whole body to shake uncontrollably.

I barely managed to crawl to the edge of the pool, but before I could catch my breath, the Mogane family's bodyguards shoved me back in.

My parents stood next to Olivia Mogane, watching me with cold, indifferent eyes.

"You actually dare to hurt someone now?"

My dad sneered.

"We need to teach you a lesson before you get too out of hand."

Olivia Mogane looked all innocent, as if she were the victim.

"Mom, Dad, why does my sister always have to bully me?"

"Is it my fault that I'm better than her? I just don't want to embarrass you guys…"

"But she—she's trying to ruin my face! How am I ever supposed to show my face again after this?"

She began sobbing uncontrollably.

Mom's face twisted with anger and hurt as she grabbed my hair and slapped me hard across the face.

"How could I have given birth to such a vicious daughter…"

"We were all doing just fine before you came back."

"Why did you have to ruin everything?"

"If Olivia ends up with a scar on her face, I swear I won't forgive you!"

Dad let out a sharp grunt.

"Don't even think about spreading lies."
