His Wife Got In The Car With Another Man
Kai had been so swamped with work today that he forgot to bring this up earlier.
Then he decided to wait for a better time when the boss was in a good mood.
Kai swallowed. ‘Um…”
“What’s wrong?”
Kai decided to let the evidence speak for itself.
He unlocked his phone, cued up the footage from the hospital, and handed his iPhone to Austyn, avoiding eye contact in the meanwhile
“This is the CCTV footage from Mr Hewitt’s
ward.‘
Austyn scowled as he took the phone. ‘Why can’t you just tell me?”
Kai gripped the steering wheel with both hands and pretended not to hear the question.
Austyn hit ‘Play.”
The hospital ward showed up on the screen.
A doctor was in the room.
Kira walked in.
Followed by a man.
Austyn stared at the face in disbelief.
申牢牢
Kira was walking through the lobby when her phone rang.
Liam Cane.
She pulled up short.
The last time he called, he’d asked her to be his girlfriend.
Kira had hung up in a hurry.
Then radio silence—no calls or texts from him for almost a week.
Kira thought he’d given up the idea.
Why was he calling her now?
Her ringtone rang persistently.
Bob Dylan urged her to pick up the call.
Kira gripped her phone. ‘Hello, Mr Cane.”
‘Are you off work now?”
‘Um, yes.‘
‘Have you thought about what I said last time?‘ He got straight to the point.
Kira came out of the front door. ‘Yes.‘
‘And?‘
“And I think I’m going to
Wie Gorm The Car With Another Man
‘Wait. For news this important, I’d want to see you face to face.!
Kira stood on the sidewalk. “But I’m at the office. I don’t think it’s a good idea for us to
‘Look up.”
Kira raised her head.
Liam’s candy red Bentley was parked on the other side of the road.
The man himself was leaning against the car, waving at her with a smile on his face.
Kira gawked.
“Let’s talk.” His mellow voice travelled down the line clearly,
Liam started walking towards her.
‘Stop right there!‘ Kira shouted.
He did. ‘Why? What’s wrong?‘
Kira kept her head down and dashed across the road.
She circled round to the passenger side of the Bentley, pulled the door open and scrambled inside.
The whole process took less than ten seconds.
The only two witnesses of the scene were sitting inside the Hummer, parked twenty metres away.
With a blank face, Austyn watched Kira get into the car.
There was not a sound in the Hummer…
Kai was glad he was sitting down; his knees were weak.
Boss had just watched the footage.
Liam Cane was the one with Kira at the hospital.
He steadied her when Kira almost collapsed.
Both his arms were around her shoulders.
Kai had seen the video multiple times.
Now he did not dare make a sound.
He knew Boss was on the verge of losing his temper, big time.
The last time Boss had gone berserk, he’d shot the person who killed Deborah.
One bullet, close range, straight to the head.
Four bodyguards weren’t enough to stop him.
Liam was somehow involved.
He probably would have died at Austyn’s hands back then if their father hadn’t arrived in time.
Kal could only imagine what Boss was feeling when he saw Kira get in the car with Liam.
When Austyn finally spoke, his voice had gone hoarse and cold. ‘Follow them.”
“Yes, Boss,‘ Kai started the engine straight away.
When he heard a loud snap from the backseat, Kai prayed it was the signature pen and not his iPhone.
The assistant kept his eyes on the Bentley and said a silent prayer for Young Madam.
His Wife Get in The Car With Another Man
Boss had seen her get into Liam’s car, an act tantamount to waving a muleta in front of an already enraged bull.
Liam glanced at Kira in the front passenger seat.
She was panting hard, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
Liam caught himself staring and looked away.
“There’s water in the glovebox if you’re thirsty.‘ He started the engine.
“Thank you.‘ Kira removed a bottle of mineral water.
She twisted off the cap and took a big swig to calm her pounding heart.
Hopefully, no one saw her get into the Bentley.
‘you just drank the water like that?‘ Liam asked.
‘Huh?‘ She looked at him. ‘What do you mean?‘
‘What if the water’s drugged?”
Kira coughed and spluttered, spilling water on the front of her shirt.
“You’re joking, right?”
