A Crabby Prince Charming
As for Liam…
Kira dismissed him out of her mind.
Whatever happened between Liam and Austyn was none of her business.
She just needed to play the role of Mrs McCarthy well.
And Deborah….
That was in the past as well.
Kira couldn’t deny that she was developing feelings for Austyn, but her plan to divorce him in a year had not changed.

Since they would go their separate ways eventually, Austyn had the right to love whomever he chose.
A year was just 52 weeks, 365 days.
It would soon pass.
Austyn was in the driver’s seat of the Hummer.
He gave a short blast of the horn.
‘Coming!‘ Kira closed the door behind her.
Bob Dylan’s voice alerted her to an incoming call.
She paused when she saw the caller ID.
‘Dr Morrison. How’s my
dad?‘
Her father’s attending physician seldom called her unless something happened to Leland Hewitt.
‘Miss Hewitt, relax. Your father is fine.‘
‘Oh, phew. May I know what this is about?‘
Dr Morrison sounded uncertain. ‘Um…‘
‘Whatever it is, you can tell me, Doctor,‘ Kira said, heart in mouth.
Doctors only dragged their feet when they were about to deliver bad news.
“Well, the thing is, Mr McCarthy has instructed me to take extra care of your father. As a result, I check on him twice every day, sometimes three times. I think I may have seen someone loitering outside your father’s ward.‘
A Club, Mince Clamang
Kira’s mind immediately flashed to Georgina and Helen.
‘Someone? Was there one or two? Men or women?‘
‘One. A man.”
Kira was thrown.
A man?
Loitering outside her father’s room?
The doctor continued, ‘He showed up yesterday and just stood outside your father’s room. I got called away. When I went to check on your father at night, the man had left. Then he came again this morning. He just stood in the hallway and didn’t go inside. When I asked him who he was or what he was doing, he left without saying anything.‘
‘Are you sure he didn’t go into my father’s room? He didn’t do anything to
to my dad?‘ ‘I’m sure. I keep a close watch on your father’s vitals. He’s fine and is sleeping undisturbed.”
‘Oh, okay. That’s good. Doctor, if the man comes back again, please let me know. I’ll go down there to take a look for myself.‘
‘Sure.‘
‘Thank you, Dr Morrison.”
‘Stop dawdling!‘ Austyn rolled down the window and pointed at his watch. ‘We’re going to be late!‘
‘Sorry!‘ Kira jogged over to the car and got in the front passenger seat.
“Who was that on the phone?‘ Austyn asked.
‘Dr Morrison.‘ Kira told him about the call.
‘A man?‘ Austyn narrowed his eyes. ‘Not another “acquaintance” you’ve made behind my back?‘
Kira rolled her eyes. “Will you stop jumping to conclusions? I don’t even know who he is. He
could be an old friend of Dad’s.‘
“I was just kidding.’
“Well, it’s not funny.‘
Austyn shrugged. ‘Buckle up.”
