Gideon entered the banquet hall just in time to catch the figure in a red silk dress walking u 

the stairs. 

He recognised Kira immediately. 

He shook off Gwen’s hand and bounded towards Kira. 

‘Young Master?‘ Gwen wanted to chase after him but was held back by her stilettos. 

‘Stay here,‘ Gideon ordered with a backward glance. 

Gwen could only watch as Gideon made a beeline for the stairs.

As soon as they were on the second floor and she saw no one else around, Kira pushed Austyn 

away. 

“Why did you do that?‘ 

‘Do what?‘ Austyn leaned against the railing. 

‘Put your arm around me in public. Now everyone’s going to think we’re a couple!‘ 

“We ARE a couple,‘ Austyn reminded his wife. 

‘I mean…I…‘ Kira stomped her feet and almost twisted her ankles. 

She forgot she was in heels. 

‘What I meant was, that was an unnecessary public display of…of affection. I was so 

embarrassed.‘ 

Her cheeks were flushed. 

Kira touched her face. ‘But then, I have a lot of makeup on today. Maybe they won’t recognise 

me the next time they see me.‘ 

Then they wouldn’t be able to expose her identity as Austyn’s wife. 

Kira was still fuming, though. 

Austyn had promised there would be no reporters here, but his action just now was tantamount to a public announcement of their relationship.

They were the only ones there. 

The noise downstairs vanished. 

Kira could hear his breathing and hers. 

Austyn lifted her chin with a finger. ‘Is this how you treat someone who just helped you out of a jam?” 

Kira mumbled, ‘But I didn’t need your help. I had it under control.” 

‘Oh, really?‘ 

‘Thanks to you, I didn’t get to see them pouring a drink over each other,‘ Kira muttered under her breath. ‘I was kind of looking forward to that.” 

‘So it’s my fault for trying to help?‘ 

Kira sensed she’d ruffled the man’s feathers and acted quickly to smooth them. ‘No, of course not. I’m not blaming you. In fact, I am deeply grateful. Thank you for rescuing me from the 

evil twins.‘ 

“Is that all?‘ 

Kira couldn’t make out his expression in the dim room. ‘Is that not enough? I said “thank 

you.”
