Kira shrank back in the massage chair and kicked out at the man. 

She raised a hand to slap him but he held her wrist. 

‘Kira, it’s me.‘ His voice was hoarse. 

Kira was dumbstruck. 

She was so shocked that she forgot to struggle. 

Gideon! 

What was he doing here? 

Gideon straightened up. 

He smiled at the dazed look on her face. ‘It’s me, Kira. I went from room to room looking for you. Almost missed you in this chair. Luckily, fate guided me here.‘ 

He was striding past the lounge. 

The door was open. 

The room appeared to be empty. 

But then he caught a glimpse of fiery red fabric. 

He recognised Kira’s dress. 

When he came out to the balcony and saw her sleeping under the moonlight, he couldn’t help but kiss her. 

She tasted so sweet. 

Her lips were irresistible. 

Gideon deepened the kiss and woke her up. 

Kira tried to sit up in the chair but Gideon was straddling her. 

‘Get up!‘ she shouted. 

‘You look so beautiful tonight.‘ He stared into her eyes. ‘So bewitching.‘ 

Kira pushed against him. ‘Did you hear me? Get up!” 

‘Are you still mad at me?‘ He caressed her face and carried on as if he didn’t hear her. ‘Is that why you never returned to the hospital?” 

‘Let me go!‘ Kira punched him in the chest and prised his fingers away from her face. 

When he refused to budge, Kira raised her hand again. 

Gideon caught her wrist. ‘Are you going to slap me?‘ 

The dark look on his face startled her. 

Gideon loosened his grip when he saw the fear in her ever 

He stroked her cheek. ‘Kira, I-‘ 

‘Don’t touch me!‘ 

Instinctively, she slapped him hard across the face.. 

Gideon reared back. 

He touched his cheek. 

It stung. 

His pupils constricted. 

He breathed out heavily through his nose. 

Kira’s palm was numb. 

She’d mastered all her strength in that slap. 

She drew her knees up to her chest and watched Gideon cautiously. 

Gideon got to his feet slowly. ‘If that’s what it takes to get you to forgive me, go ahead. Slap me, punch me, kick me–do whatever you want. 

Kira bit her lower lip. ‘I wouldn’t have done that if you didn’t try and…molest me.‘ 

‘Molest you?‘ Gideon chuckled. ‘How could it be called molesting when I’m just kissing my girlfriend?‘

‘I’m not your girlfriend!‘ Kira shot back. 

It was over between them a long time ago. 

‘You are.‘ Gideon stared fixedly at her. ‘You were, you are, and you will always be my girlfriend, my love.” 

Call him stubborn, call him obsessed–he didn’t care. 

All he cared about was having Kira back in his life. 

He wanted her, just her and no one else. 

Kira was incredulous. 

What was he thinking? 

He slept with her half–sister and then absconded without leaving behind so much as a note. 

And now he wanted to just waltz back into her life and expect her to welcome him with open 

arms? 

Sure, she still thought about him now and then, but that was only because he was an inextricable part of her past. 

She spent almost all her adolescent years with him. 

When Dad wasn’t by her side, Gideon was. 

When Helen showed up with Georgina in tow to gloat, Gideon stood up to them. 

Even if he was no longer her boyfriend, he was still her brother and friend. 

But that was all he would be to her from now on a brother and a friend, not a boyfriend. 

If Gideon thought he could just pick up where they left off as if nothing had happened, he got another think coming. 

Kira got up to stand behind the massage chair, keeping it as a barrier between her and Gideon.” What are you doing here?‘
