Kira smiled as well, unamused. ‘Mr Cane, be honest with me and with yourself–do you really love me?” Liam furrowed his brows. “Why would I say all those things if I don’t love you? Do you doubt my sincerity?‘ 

“I doubt your motive. You’re only using me to get to Austyn.” 

Her answer hit the nail on the head 

Liam clenched his jaw.

But Liam realised he might have met his Waterloo this time. 

Sensing his distraction, Kira stepped around him and aimed for the door. 

‘Hello? Anybody home? A man’s voice came from downstairs. ‘Liam?” 

Liam scowled when he heard the voice. 

He spun around, grabbed Kira by her elbow and dragged her back into the bedroom. 

“Hey! Let me go!‘ Kira grappled with him. 

Liam didn’t listen. 

‘Let me go! Don’t make me hate you!‘ Kira shouted angrily. ‘I was willing to forgive you for what happened in the restaurant because you helped me in the past. But this is way out of line! Stop!! 

‘Shut up!‘ Liam hissed. 

But it was too late. 

A figure poked his head through the open doorway. 

“I hope I 

hope I’m not interrupting,‘ he said with a smirk when he took in the scene in the bedroom 

Liam pulled Kira behind him. 

‘Sean, what are you doing here?” 

Sean Santoro’s eyes were fixed on the woman behind Liam. 

“I’m here to see you, of course. But it seems that y 

you’re rather busy at the moment.‘ 

Liam’s heart was beating fast. 

Sean had proposed making a move on Kira several times. 

Liam shot him down, but he knew Sean wouldn’t give u 

up so easily. 

When he heard Sean’s voice downstairs, his first thought was to keep Kira out of Sean’s sight, though he didn’t know why he was so 

nervous 

Sean crossed the length of the room in two big strides. 

He yanked on Kira’s arm and pulled her out from behind Liam. 

“You must be Austyn McCarthy’s wife.”
