His eyes travelled up from her legs to the t–shirt 

The morning sun was behind her, turning the flimsy fabric of the t–shirt translucent. 

Austyn turned away. 

If he stared any longer, he wasn’t sure he could control his lust. 

‘Can you sit up?‘ Kira poured another glass of water and bent down to help him. 

‘Stay back!‘ Austyn shouted. 

The t–shirt had a loose round collar. 

He saw everything. 

Kira paused. 

What had gotten into him? 

She just stood there, holding the glass in her hand, unsure of what to do. 

‘Where’s your underwear?‘ Austyn asked in a husky voice. 

He didn’t see any. 

Kira’s face was instantly flushed. 

Her hand flew to her chest. ‘Pervert!‘ 

Doctor Chase, being a typical man, had bought her a t–shirt, thinking that was the meaning of 

‘clothes.‘ 

The shopping bag contained no underwear or pants or skirts or any other piece of clothing. 

Kira, in her rush to jump in the shower, had not checked the bag. 

The pasties got wet. 

The thong, which made her blush when she put it on, was wet as well. She came out of the shower with no underwear to change into.

That was why she didn’t want to come out of the bathroom. 

Going commando made her feel naked.

In her hurry to get away, she stubbed her toe on the base of the bedpost.

She pitched forward. 

So did the glass in her hand. 

Water splashed out, landing right in the middle of Austyn’s trousers. 

Austyn glanced down. 

Kira glanced down. 

‘Shoot! I…I didn’t mean it…” 

Her first reaction was to wipe away the water with her hand, but she caught herself. 

It would only make things worse. 

‘Don’t you think you need to do something about it?‘ Austyn asked, teasing. ‘I didn’t bring a change of clothes, you know.” 

Kira was flustered. 

‘I didn’t do it on purpose.

If he hadn’t leered at her, she wouldn’t have tried to pull back, then she wouldn’t have stubbed her toe and splashed the water–accidentally–on him. 

If he thought about it, it was really his own fault! 

Austyn didn’t hear her. 

His eyes were riveted on the front of her t–shirt. 

Jesse had chosen well. 

Austyn added a mental note to give his doctor friend a hefty tip later. 

Then he pulled Kira down and kissed her. 

Kira’s eyes widened. 

What was he doing? 

He pried open her lips with his tongue and started exploring eagerly. 

Kira felt the familiar tingle down her spine whenever he kissed her. 

She didn’t want to respond, but her body had its own ideas. 

Kira closed her eyes. 

The kiss grew more passionate. 

Austyn’s hands were around her waist.

Kai paused mid–stride, his hand still in the air. 

He gawked at the scene–Young Madam straddling Boss, the two of them engaged in a sizzling liplock.

He groped for the door handle and thought, ‘Doctor Chase said Boss was injured pretty badly. But I think he was exaggerating, seeing as how Boss still has the energy to…” 

He closed the door and disappeared. 

Kira pushed Austyn away. 

She was so embarrassed that she could just crawl into a hole and die.

He leaned back against the headboard, panting slightly. 

He’d wanted to do more than just kiss, but his body protested. 

So he had to content himself with drinking in the pleasant view of her gossamer–thin t–shirt. 

Kira wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and glared at the man. 

Pervert! 

She clambered off the bed and plastered her back against the wall, staying as far away from him as possible. 

‘Come in,‘ Austyn said in a louder voice. 

The door opened by a crack. 

Kai poked his head through, checking. 

Then he came inside. 

“What’s in the bag?” 

Kai set down the valise. ‘Doctor Chase called me. I drove to the villa after leaving the office. Elsie packed this for Young Madam.” 

“Thank you.‘ Kira picked up the travelling bag. 

“You’re welcome, Young Madam.‘ Kai kept his eyes trained on the floor. 

He’d glimpsed how short Kira’s t–shirt was. 

‘I’ll go get changed.‘ Kira fled to the bathroom and closed the door. 

Austyn sat up in bed. ‘Any urgent business at the office?‘ 

‘No, I took care of most of them. Just need your signatures on some forms.‘ 

Kai handed over a briefcase. 

Austyn took it. ‘I’ll get to it later.‘ 

He kept an eye on the bathroom door and asked in a low voice, ‘What did your 

find?‘ 

Kai leaned in. ‘I put Stefan on the earliest available flight to Bradford, the city closest to Milton with an airport. The plane touched down two and a half hours ago. He’s at Milton right now. The Hewitt family is quite well–known locally. He found their old address and talked to a couple of neighbours. They confirmed that the Hewitts had a foster son but couldn’t recall the boy’s name.‘ 

‘And?‘ Austyn saw the hesitation on Kai’s face.

‘One of the old men Stefan talked to, he said, uh, he said that he only remembered the boy because of a scandal.‘ 

‘What scandal?‘ 

‘Um…‘ 

‘Spill it!‘ 

‘He said that Young Madam slept with the foster boy. It caused quite a stir, because the boy had taken the Hewitt name, which made him a brother to Young Madam. Some called it ince…‘ 

Kai couldn’t bring himself to finish the word. 

Austyn clenched his jaw. 

Kai quickly added, ‘But of course it’s just a rumour. We can’t put too much stock in it.” 

‘I know.” 

Austyn didn’t believe a word of it. 

Kira lost her virginity to him.
