She rushed inside and only breathed out when the door slid shut. 

Deborah’s hands shook as she fumbled for her key. 

She opened the door of Unit 18-20 and hurried inside. 

‘Deborah Connelly!‘ 

Liam grasped her wrist and pinned it behind her back. 

She trembled. 

She tried to take back her hand but couldn’t. 

‘Sir, whoever you are, please let me go! Or I’m going to call security!‘ 

Liam pushed her into the apartment and kicked the door shut behind him. 

He spun her around and slammed her body against the wall. 

Deborah hit the back of her head against the wall and saw stars. 

But there was no time to check on her wound. 

She scrambled sideways, away from Liam, and tried to run into the bedroom. 

Liam was faster. 

He grabbed her shoulder and shoved her back against the wall. 

Anger flashed in his eyes. 

‘Deborah Connelly! Stop running! What the hell is going on?‘ 

She swallowed hard. 

Her face, pale to begin with, was now whiter than the wall behind her. 

‘I don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re…you’re trespassing.” 

‘Still lying?‘ Liam saw the fear in her eyes and curled his lip. 

He stroked her bare arm, running his cold fingertips over her fair skin. 

‘Does this jog your memory, hmm?‘ 

His hand went to her waist, then further up. 

His fingers slithered over the diaphanous fabric of her dress and made her flesh crawl. 

The muscles in her calves twitched uncontrollably. 

Deborah had to lean back against the wall for support, or she would have slid to the floor.

His eyes had the physical force of a lance, transfixing her to the spot.

Deborah bit her lower lip. 

The pain forced her to calm down. 

She had to bite back a scream. 

‘L–let me go. H–help.‘ 

A gurgling sound came from her throat. 

She struggled to breathe. 

‘Still refuse to come clean?‘ 

Liam was smiling. 

It was a smile of rage. 

He tightened the grip around her neck. 

Her face was red like a ripe tomato. 

‘Tell me what the hell is going on.‘ He enunciated each word slowly, squeezing the air out of her lungs. 

Deborah slapped him hard on the arm and clawed at him blindly. 

Her lungs felt like they were going to explode. 

She no longer saw his face, just black dots swimming in front of her eyes. 

Liam didn’t let up. 

He yanked on the flimsy fabric of her dress and tore it. 

He lowered his head, the tip of his nose touching hers. 

The hotness of his breath made her skin crawl. 

‘It seerns that you need more help to jog your memory.‘ 

Deborah gagged. 

She didn’t hear the loud ripping sound as Liam destroyed her dress. 

She didn’t realise she was half–naked until she felt the chilly air on her chest. 

She looked down and let out a muffled scream. 

Her hands flew to her chest but were swatted away by Liam. 

‘Stop!‘ 

Liam didn’t. 

He dragged her to the sofa, threw her on it and pressed his full weight on top of her body. 

Deborah was trapped between his arms. 

She was getting light–headed. 

She blinked rapidly but couldn’t make her eyes focus. 

She wheezed and felt an asthma attack coming on. 

She lay on her back, completely powerless. 

Liam forced her hands over her head and pushed apart her legs with his knee. 

His eyes travelled over her chest, which was heaving with the effort of drawing in air. 

Deborah was shaking like a leaf, gasping. 

The TV remote was digging into her back. 

She felt his hand moving towards between her legs and shrieked, ‘Don’t! I’m Deborah Connelly! I’m Deborah!‘ 

She broke down and sobbed. ‘I’m Deborah! I’m not dead!‘ 

She was quaking with fear and despair. 

Her voice was scratchy. 

She thought she was shouting, but it came out as barely above a whisper. 

Tears blinded her eyes. 

‘I’ll tell you whatever you want to know! Please, just…let me go! Don’t…don’t do this to me!‘ 

Liam raised his head and stared at her. ‘So you admit you’re Deborah Connelly.‘ 

‘Yes,‘ she said weakly.
