Kira returned to the ward feeling more cheerful. 

It was always nice talking to Damian. 

He exuded a kind of brotherly affection that made Kira feel all warm inside. 

‘Where’s Kai?‘ she asked when she saw Austyn alone in the room. 

‘He left to get some stuff.‘ 

‘What stuff?‘ Kira checked the time. 

It was almost eleven o’clock, past time for Kai to go home. 

He had just gotten off the plane that morning and he’d had a long day, just like his boss. 

‘A change of clothes for you,‘ Austyn said. 

Kira left most of her clothes back at the villa. 

Kai was on his way there. 

Kira walked over to Austyn’s bed. ‘Your assistant deserves a raise.‘ 

‘I’ll think about it.‘ 

Austyn often threatened to take away Kai’s year–end bonus, but it was mostly said tongue–in–cheek. 

He had two full–time assistants and four secretaries, but Kai was the one he trusted the most. 

Resourceful and quick on the uptake, Kai was the perfect assistant–other than his tendency to speak out of turn.
