The call was finally answered three minutes later. 

‘Yes?‘ Liam’s languid voice travelled down the line. 

‘It’s me. I want to see you.‘ 

Liam chuckled. ‘Take a number, lady. Plenty of women want to see me. You need to wait for your turn.‘ ‘Liam Cane!‘ Deborah raised her voice. ‘You know who I am!‘

‘Oh, Miss Connelly.’ Liam raised an eyebrow. To what do I owe the pleasure? Are you feeling lonely again? 

He added after a pause, ‘Or are you running back to me because Austyn kicked you to the curb, just like old times? 

Deborah gritted her teeth. 

She had vowed never to see Liam’s loathsome face again after what he did to her in the apartment, but she had no choice. 

She had to find out the truth. 

‘When can you meet?‘ she asked coldly, ignoring his taunts. 

‘Where are you right now?‘ 

‘Outside your house.‘ 

‘Wait there.‘ 

He hung up. 

Deborah paced on the driveway outside Liam’s house. 

She was tempted to turn on her heel and leave, but she forced herself to stay. 

Liam Cane did not show up after two whole hours had passed. 

Deborah knew he was doing this on purpose. 

Her legs were getting sore. 

She was wearing heels and had been on her feet all day. 

She looked up and saw that the sky had darkened. 

She silently cursed the man. 

She had left Aiden home alone. 

It was way past his dinnertime. 

Just as she was about to leave, a candy–red Bentley Continental GT zoomed down the road. 

It sped past her and skidded to a stop in front of the house. 

The driver’s side window was rolled down. 

Liam stuck out a hand and crooked a finger at Deborah. 

She approached the car. 

‘You’re still here?‘ He smirked from behind a pair of oversized sunglasses. 

Deborah said nothing. 

Liam got out of the car. 

The front passenger side door opened. 

A woman got out. 

She was the kind of beddable bombshell men liked to fantasise about when they touched themselves. 

If she lived in the last century, she would have been a pin–up girl. 

Sensing a threat, the woman sashayed over. 

Her ample bosom brushed against Liam’s arm. 

She pouted. ‘Mr Cane, I thought I was your date for the night.‘ 

‘You are.‘ Liam patted her buttocks. 

‘Then who is this?‘ The woman gave Deborah a once–over. 

‘Nobody.‘ 

‘I need to talk to you.‘ Deborah ignored the woman. 

‘As I told you, you need to wait your turn.‘ Liam threw an atm around the woman’s waist and started walking towards the house. ‘As you can see, I’m rather busy at the moment.‘ 

The woman giggled. 

Liam unlocked the door and got in. 

He and his date disappeared into the house. 

Deborah hesitated a moment. 

Then she entered the house. 

She sat on a sofa in the living room downstairs.

Liam must have left his bedroom door wide open. 

Deborah caught the woman’s loud moans, filled with equal parts of pain and pleasure. 

Was this what she sounded like when she was in bed with Liam? 

Deborah tried to distract herself with other thoughts. 

Somehow, her mind wandered back to seven years ago. 

Liam Cane was a patient suitor. 

He pulled out,all the stops when he was pursuing her. 

He sent her a dozen of fresh roses every day, brought her out to movies and dinners, asked how she was feeling and took a genuine interest in her day. 

She lost her virginity to him willingly.
