‘I like Uncle Gideon the best!‘ Jennie chimed in. ‘He buys us a lot of presents!‘
‘Muminy said Uncle Gideon was away on a business trip,‘ Joshua said.
Austyn drummed a finger on the table as he absorbed the new information.
He saw Jennie licking her lips. ‘Do you want something else for breakfast? How about waffle?”
“Yes!’ Jennie nodded enthusiastically.
‘Joshua?”
Joshua nodded as well, a little shy.
Austyn gestured at a waiter and ordered blueberry waffles with fruit.
He cut the waffles into bite–sized chunks.
While he watched the kids dig in, he made a call.
‘Good morning, Boss!‘
He didn’t return Kai’s greeting and went straight to the point. ‘You’ve been holding out on me.”
‘Huh? No, why would I-
‘You never told me about a man called Gideon.”
“Oh, him. Um, it’s a long story.”
“Then make it short.‘
Meanwhile, Kira was talking to Gideon.
‘I’ll be back tomorrow. How are the kids doing?”

King stood on the pavement outside the restaurant. “They are fine. What time does your plane touch down?”
“Three o’clock.”
Do you need me to pick you up?”
“Yes, that’ll be nice.”
“Uh, I… Kira faltered.
She was just being polite
She didn’t expect him to take her up on that offer.
Gideon didn’t give her the chance to back out of it.
‘Then I’ll see you at three o’clock then. Bring the kids, We can have an early dinner.”
Alter Kira’s father passed away, she moved out of Austyn’s house at Ardmore Park, talding nothing with her.
She wanted a clean break from the McCarthys and refused the help from Charlotte.
But her friends pitched in
They helped her settle into the new apartment and took care of her during the pregnancy.
Gideon offered his assistance as well, but Kira turned him down.
She had not forgotten how he forced her to get an abortion.
But he apologised profusely and swore to be nothing more than a good friend.
