She counted Gideon as one of them. 

But now she realised that he was still obsessed with her. 

“I didn’t lie!” Gideon snapped at her. 

‘Keep your voice down!‘ Kira glanced towards the bedroom door. 

Gideon took a deep breath and lowered his voice. ‘I didn’t lie. I would have been okay with staying just friends, as long as you don’t have anyone else in your life. But Austyn’s back now. And I know you still have feelings for him.‘ 

Kira looked away. 

She wasn’t going to talk about her feelings with Gideon 

But Gideon refused to let her run away from the subject, 

He stepped up to her. ‘Kira, don’t forget the McCarthys murdered your father. Austyn’s dad took away Leland’s life. How could you even think about getting back together with Austyn? 

Kira clenched her hands and whisper–shouted, ‘Shut up!‘ 

Gideon took in her reaction. “You know what I said is right. Austyn McCarthy’s father is a murderer. Austyn himself is an accomplice. If you still love your father, you’ll never forget what they did to him; you’ll never take Austyn back.” 

Kira’s body shook. 

Gideon was forcing her to confront the one thing she had been running away from. 

He placed both hands on her shoulders. “Kira, you know I’m right. You don’t have a future with Austyn, but you do with me. 

Kira struggled desperately. ‘Let go of me!! 

‘Shh.‘ Gideon kept her in place. “You don’t want the ldds to see this. 

He leaned in to kiss her. 

Kira turned her face away. 

Gideon’s lips brushed her check. 

She squirmed and writhed but couldn’t break free of his hold. 

Gideon, irked by her rejection, grew aggressive. 

His body was pressed tightly against hers. 

He pinned her in place with his left hand while his right hand slipped under her shirt. 

Kira’s face was crimson with rage and humiliation 

She sank her teeth into his shoulder. 

Gideon hissed in pain. 

Getting hot under the collar, he picked her up and threw her onto the sofa 

sprang to her feet. 

She tried to run away but he was faster than her… 

His body was up 

hers in an instant 

Kira was trapped between him and the sofa. 

Terrified, she opened her mouth to scream for help, but she was afraid the kids would hear her. 

She didn’t want them to see her like this 

Panicking and unsure of what to do, she caught movement out of the corner of her eye. 

A figure approached fast. 

Kira’s eyes opened wider. 

Gideon didn’t notice the newcomer until he was hit over the head with a vase. 

He groaned in pain. 

His body went limp. 

Kira shoved him away 

and jumped to her feet. ‘Austyn!” 

Austyn pushed her aside and kicked Gideon, whose body twitched and then became motionless. 

Austyn was enraged. 

He came in just in time to see Gideon tackling Kira to the sola 

He picked up the first thing he saw and smashed it over Gideon’s head, but that wasn’t enough. 

His blood was boiling 

The wrath inside him could only be placated with Gideon’s injury, or death. 

Kira threw her arms around Austyn’s waist, pulling him back.
