Austyn crossed his legs and tapped a finger on his knee. I think you know what I want.‘ 

Richard swallowed ‘I don’t. This is…this is kidnapping. You are breaking the law.” 

Austyn nodded. “You are right.” 

A glimmer of hope came into Richard’s eyes. If you let me go now, I’ll…I’ll drop the charges.” 

“I don’t think I want to do that.‘ Austyn shook his head. “There’s another way to make sure you won’t press charges.‘ 

“I can kill you and dump your body in the river. No body, no crime.” 

Richard stared at him in shock 

He thought the man was kidding, but Austyn’s face was dead serious. 

His body started shaking. ‘L..L..‘ 

‘Tell me who’s behind this.” 

Richard’s pulse picked up. ‘I don’t know what you are talking about. You better let me go. My wife must know I’m missing by now. If she calls the cops, you’ll go to jall You–what are you doing?” 

Austyn had stood up 

He pushed the chair aside and took off his jacket. 

‘Leave us,‘ he said to the man who came in with him. 

Denton nodded and left the room, closing the door behind him. 

Richard shrank back in his chair. “What are you doing?! 

Austyn rolled up his sleeves. 

Denton leaned against the wall in the hallway and listened to the muffled groans coming from inside the room. 

He had no sympathies for Richard 

If the man had answered his questions truthfully, he wouldn’t have to face Austyn now. 

Denton went easy on him, but Austyn wouldn’t. 

Denton finished smoking one cigarette and figured that Austyn must be done by now, 

He entered the room. 

Richard’s entire face was on

His lips were cut and bleeding.

So was his forehead. 

He was slumped in the chair, moaning weakly. 

Denton took in the slightly rumpled shine of his employer. 

Jason–no, his name was Austyn now–was standing, his face impassive 

Denton teased, “Trouble on the domestic front?” 

Otherwise, why would d Austyn be so mad? 

Mustyn didn’t answer. 

Denton’s question reminded him of Kira. 

She almost lost her life because of Richard.
