Bedmates Soulmates novel Chapter 96

He Sent His Wife To Prison

Giana was curled up on the concrete floor, her face white as a ghost

The holding cell contained a wooden plank for a bed and a stainless steel toilet, nothing else

Kira squatted beside her friend, whose painfilled groans had subsided into whimpers

Tears streamed down her cheeks. Giana, what can I do

She wanted to lift Giana’s tshirt to check on her injuries, but she was afraid her touch might aggravate the pain

The two of them were no match for Kayleigh’s bodyguard

Last night, both she and Giana got a good drubbing, with Giana taking the brunt of the attack

Frank was intent on punishing her for striking his employer

Kayleigh called the police, claiming herself as the victim

She pointed the finger at Kira and Giana, and accused them of ambushing her

When an Alist celebrity was involved, the police snapped into action

They took the two girls away in handcuffs and, at Kayleigh’s request, detained them in lockup. Both assailantswere bodysearched, their belongings confiscated, including their phones. Kira and Giana spent a night huddling together in the cell, cold, thirsty and hungry

Don’t worry. They have to let us out eventually, Giana said weakly, clutching at her stomach. She comforted Kira and even helped her pop her dislocated shoulder back in place

Sometime in the morning, her body started burning up

She rolled around on the cot, falling onto the floor with a thud

Kira was thrown into a panic

She kicked herself for dragging her best friend into this

If not for her, Giana would be waking up in bed right now, after sleeping in on a lazy Saturday morning

Kayleigh had kicked Giana with her stiletto heels

Kira saw it with her own eyes

Giana had said she was fine..

But obviously, she wasn’t

She was sweating profusely, her hair wet

Her face had lost all traces of colour

She was getting delirious

Kira gritted her teeth

She wiped away her tears with the back of her hand

Tears were useless

He Sent this Wife To Prison

23

She’d learned that the hard way when her father was sent to the hospital after the accident

Crying solved nothing

She shot to her feet, gripped the iron bars of the cell and started yelling at the top of her lungs.Somebody! Help! We need help here! Anyone

She banged on the iron bars

After some time, a uniformed officer lumbered towards the cell

He beat his baton on the bars and scolded impatiently. Shut up! Behave yourself. You’re in enough deep shit as it is. Don’t make it worse.”

Kira stretched out an arm through the bars and grabbed his arm. My friend is sick. Please send her to the hospi-”

Get lost!the officer snarled and swung his baton

The black polycarbonate stick struck Kira’s funny bone

She flinched in pain but refused to let go

The officer yanked his arm free and shoved Kira backward

Please, send my friend to the hospital,” she begged. We’re not charged with anything. She’s at most a suspect, not a convict. You can’t leave her to die!”

She’d not dead, is she? the officer snapped back. “I warn you, for the last time, shut up, or I’ll put you two in separate cells!”
