Once A Cheater, Always A Cheater 

“You appear rather eager to leave Austyn, Kayleigh asked. ‘Don’t you love him?” 

Kira carefully folded the cheque before slipping it into her pants pocket. 

Eager? 

The actress‘ word choice was spot on. 

Thinking of the phone call last night, she said, “He doesn’t deserve my love. Miss Woods, here’s my two cents‘ worth–don’t fall for him. He’s not your Mr Right. In fact, he’s not anybody’s Mr Right. If he can cheat on me with you‘–Kira paused when she saw the actress clench her jaw–‘Come on, I’m his legally wedded wife. When he sleeps with you while being married to me, that’s cheating.” 

Kayleigh looked away, refusing to dignify that with a response. 

‘Anyway, as I was saying, if he can cheat on me with you, he can cheat on you with somebody else. Once a cheater, always a cheater.‘ 

Kira felt bile rising in her throat as she recalled the woman’s voice on the phone. 

‘Don’t waste your time and your love on the wrong person.” 

Kayleigh reached a hand into her Fendi First beige leather bag and fingered her phone. 

The recording app was on. 

Every word uttered by the girl was faithfully captured on tape. 

She nodded to herself in satisfaction before speaking up. “I know what kind of man Austyn is. Even when he’s married to you, he still comes to me. He and I belong together. He loves me, heart, mind, and soul, 

Kira just shrugged at the convinced look on Kayleigh’s face. In that case, I have nothing else to say.” 

Outside the window, the street bustle had disappeared 

The Rolls–Royce had turned into a deserted area. 

No pedestrians, no shops, no street lamps. 

Kira began to feel nervous. 

‘Stop the car,‘ Kayleigh ordered. 

Frank complied. 

‘Miss Hewitt, please get off the car. Our business is concluded. I have somewhere else to be.” 

Kira looked out the window. 

The car was idling by the side of a potholed concrete road. 

Less than twenty metres away, a group of men were standing around, smoking. 

The luxury sedan had attracted their attention. 

They kept throwing glances this way, whispering to each other. 

Each man held a cigarette, which glowed in the semi–darkness with a sinister light. 

Kira swallowed. 

Gripping the edge of the seat, she forced a smile. ‘Miss Woods, you picked me up, you should send me

back. I’m not getting off at this strange place.” 

‘You and I are done here. Kayleigh’s voice was glacial I don’t have to send you anywhere. Now, get lost.” 

The 

actress raised a manicured hand and shoved Kira’s shoulder. 

“No!‘ Kira held onto the grab handle above the car door 

She was not going to be stranded in a strange place with a group of rough–looking men. 

“Turn the car around and drop me off someplace else! she commanded. 

Her firm voice belied her trepidation. 

Kayleigh tilted her chin at the bodyguard. 

Frank caught her gesture in the rearview mirror. 

He got out of the car, came to the rear left door, pulled it open, and started hauling Kira out. 

Kira, on full alert now, held on for dear life. 

She should have known Austyn’s lover was up to no good! 

“Don’t touch me!” she snarled at Frank and tried to swat his hand away. 

One by one, the burly bodyguard pried her fingers off the grab hold. 

His words were much more polite than his action. ‘Miss Hewitt, please get out of the car.” 

Shit. 

“Kayleigh set this up!‘ Kira thought, panicking. 

This place was in the middle of nowhere. 

No pedestrians, other than the group of menacing–looking men. 

Which meant no witnesses. 

No traffic cameras, at least none that she could see. 

If anything happened to her here, she wouldn’t have any evidence to prove Kayleigh was the instigator. 

The actress would get off scot–free. 

No, she must not leave the car. 

Kira kicked at the bodyguard, who didn’t budge. 

One more yank and she would be ejected from the car, 

Kira grasped Kayleigh’s arm. ‘If you leave me here, I’ll tell the press you bullied me. I’ll sue you for reckless endangerment! What do you think your fans will think of you then?” 

Kira made her threat with false bravado. 

She had no idea if the charge of ‘reckless endangerment‘ applied here, but as the saying went, any port in 

a storm. 

The actress had shed all pretence. 

Let go of me!‘ she pulled back her arm. ‘This is a Valentino Couture! It costs twenty–five thousand dollars. Get your sweaty palms off my dress!” 

Kira clamped both hands around Kayleigh’s left arm. 

If Frank wanted to drag her out of the car, she was going to take Kayleigh with her. 

“Let go!‘ the actress screamed. 

Despite her petite frame, the girl was freakishly strong 

Kayleigh, enraged now, swung her right arm and slapped Kira. 

The loud sound reverberated in the narrow space of the car. 

Kira’s cheek stung. 

She saw red. 

If she put up with such treatment, she must be either a saint or a doormat. 

Kira Hewitt was neither!
