Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 858

Chapter 858

With a leisurely and relaxed pace, David was like a male lion fixated on delicious prey.

Every movement he made exuded an air of confidence and assured victory.

As Rachel had just laid down on the bed, David reached out and pulled her up. “Your hair isn’t dry yet. Aren’t you afraid of catching a cold?”

He placed the glass of milk in Rachel’s hand and fetched a hairdryer, plugging it in before calmly blow-drying her hair.

David’s well-defined fingers slid through her silky hair, gently grazing her scalp. Every movement he made seemed unintentional, yet it revealed tenderness and thoughtfulness..

Rachel gazed at David’s figure through the bright and clean window, unable to help but feel a sense of admiration. Indeed, handsome men always appeared pleasing in whatever they did.

Even in the simplest and most ordinary act of blow-drying hair, he elevated it to something extraordinary with his exquisite

and stunning face.

He was a favored man. It was like heaven had bestowed all perfection upon him alone.

Yet, no matter how perfect David was, he had fallen for her.

Thinking about it, Rachel couldn’t help but feel proud.

She lowered her head slightly and covered her lips with a faint smile.

David turned off the hairdryer and rubbed the top of her head with his broad palm. Then, he asked in a low voice, “Are you free this weekend?”

This weekend…

Rachel’s gaze flickered slightly, and she did have plans.

But upon hearing David’s words, her interest was piqued. “You have plans?”

“I want to take you somewhere,” David replied, putting away the hairdryer.

Hearing his response, Rachel became even more curious.

When Rachel saw the appearance of Christopher today, a faint suspicion arose in her heart. Now, David’s words seemed to be confirming her previous conjecture one by one.

“Let me guess, could it be that you’re going to show me the true face of the underground king?” Rachel’s eyes held a glint of cunning.

When she first came into contact with David, Lucas compiled a list of rumors about David and sent it to her in an attempt to persuade her to give up on David.

Among them was the rumor that David controlled an underground power and had absolute authority.

This matter had already come to her attention during the bidding event, where multiple forces appeared at the same time. They all showed the utmost respect and deference to David. She had already deduced a thing or two from that.

Now, David decided to take Rachel to experience it, causing her heart to be filled with excitement and anticipation to some

extent.

As he looked at the shimmering smile in Rachel’s eyes, David’s gaze darkened, his Adam’s apple bobbed, and he leaned down, pressing her beneath him.

As the lights dimmed, his lips brushed against her temple. He whispered in a deep voice tinged with passionate huskiness, “Why don’t you try guessing what I’m going to do to you next?”

Rachel shivered all over and instinctively looked at him.

In the dim light, a cluster of flames seemed to ignite in the depths of the man’s pitch-black eyes, igniting the fervor and addiction within them.

In a daze, Rachel felt a coolness around her waist, and her dress was swiftly pushed up to her chest.

Amidst the late-night hours, the air became filled with the soft sounds of breathy moans, composing a nocturnal symphony of sensual desires.

The next day, 12 noon.

During the lunch break, Rachel invited Mary to go out for lunch.

The two sat at a table in a restaurant. Rachel wiped her hands with an alcohol wipe, wearing a half-smile that sent a shiver down Mary’s spine.

Fortunately, Rachel was only cleaning her hands with the wipe. Otherwise, someone might have mistaken her for sharpening a knife.

Mary quietly picked up her chopsticks, feeling a sense of unease for no apparent reason. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

With a casual flick, Rachel tossed the wet wipe onto the table and crossed her arms. She looked like she was interrogating Mary. “Next time, if you come across any inappropriate or unnecessary questions, just keep them to yourself, okay?”

There was a hint of deep resentment in her words.

Mary’s eyebrows arched slightly, and her lips involuntarily curled upward. Excitement flickered in her eyes, fueled by curiosity. She extended the forks she held toward Rachel. “Sis, please share your story.”

Rachel glanced at her coldly.

Mary immediately withdrew her hand, feeling guilty. She hung her head low and muttered under her breath, “I just care about you. It’s all for your sake. What if something unexpected were to happen…”

Noticing Rachel’s silence, Mary reached for her cup and took a sip.

Mary became bolder and approached Rachel, her eyes fixed on her face, tinged with a hint of probing in her tone. “Did David overhear our conversation?”

Rachel remained silent, simply giving her a meaningful glance.

Though no words were spoken, that gaze seemed to convey everything she wanted to say at the same time.

Mary couldn’t help but take a sharp breath, and when she spoke again, her voice noticeably trembled. “He actually heard us?”

Rachel nodded.

In that instant, Mary had even planned out where she would be buried in the future.

“Does David have any plans on how to deal with the Green family?”

“Now you’re afraid?”

“I…” Mary initially wanted to refute, but she realized she had indeed done something stupid and lacked confidence. “I was just worried that things might escalate if your relationship gets too intense and you will end up pregnant.”
