Chapter 861
David’s words were cleverly spoken, carrying a deep meaning.
At this moment, it was as if he was inviting Rachel to journey together, offering her a choice.
Rachel looked at David’s extended hand. She then reached out her hand without hesitation and said, “Let’s go.
When her hand met David’s palm, his hand closed tightly, securely enveloping her delicate and soft hand.
The warmth from David’s palm seeped through her slightly cool fingertips like a gentle and small warm stream slowly flowing into the depths of her heart.
Rachel looked up at him.
Their gazes met unexpectedly, and gentle smiles filled their eyes.
Their fingers intertwined, silently pledging a commitment to walk hand in hand through the rest of their lives.
After walking for a while, David led Rachel to a metal gate embedded within the mountainside.
The facial recognition system at the door automatically activated after recognizing David’s face.
Not long after, a man in training attire approached. His eyes flickered slightly upon seeing Rachel, and he respectfully called out, “Sir.”
David nodded slightly and turned to look at Rachel. “This is Tony, the head of the research facility.”
Rachel nodded. “Hello.”
Tony appeared pleasantly surprised. “Greetings, Miss Grey.”
The three of them walked side by side, passing through a long air-raid tunnel. Suddenly, the area ahead opened up, resembling a large bunker.
There were three entrances in different directions ahead, each guarded by personnel and equipped with strict security systems. One could imagine the tragic outcome if someone forced their way into this place.
Three minutes later, they arrived at the central control room.
In front of the central control room, there was a large floating screen on the wall.
Here, they could not only observe the progress of work in different areas but also monitor the external environment. Rachel watched as Tony sat at the computer desk, his fingers swiftly tapping on the keyboard. She became somewhat engrossed in watching him.
Including Yann, whom she had just met, Rachel had now seen five of David’s assistants.
She had initially thought that these individuals were primarily responsible for David’s personal security, but what she witnessed today was beyond her expectations.
“Do you
have any questions?” a deep voice resonated in Rachel’s ear.
Rachel snapped out of her thoughts and turned to look at David, then nodded towards the group of people sitting in front of the computers in the lower right corner of the control room. “Are they the personnel in charge of the information intelligence network?”
“Yes,” said David.
Just then, the door to the control room was pushed open, and a woman walked in from outside, calling out, “David!”
The woman was dressed in a tight-fitting outfit that accentuated her alluring figure, and her dark hair was tied up in a high ponytail.
With her enchanting figure and overly striking face, the woman became an attention-grabbing presence that was hard to ignore.
Upon hearing the woman’s voice, Tony’s face instantly turned displeased, and he sternly reprimanded her, “How many times have I told you? You need to knock before entering!”
“Oh, I forgot,” the woman coquettishly replied, but her gaze kept drifting towards David.
Noticing Rachel standing next to David, a hint of hostility involuntarily seeped into her eyes as she looked at Rachel.
Sensing the woman’s gaze, Rachel lifted her eyes to look back.
Their gaze met for only a brief moment before the woman averted her eyes and turned her attention to David. She had a bright smile on her face. “Sir, why did you suddenly come here without giving me advance notice?”
Initially, Rachel didn’t pay much attention to the woman in front of her. However, that woman looked at David with an infatuated and captivated expression, which showed her interest in him.
For a moment, Rachel’s gaze toward the woman couldn’t help but become more scrutinizing.
Tony stood up and scolded, “Hailey, watch your manner!”
Noticing Rachel’s scrutinizing gaze, Tony felt a pang of unease. He approached her and offered an explanation, “I apologize, Miss Grey, for my sister’s behavior. This is my sister, Hailey. She has been by my side since we were young, and she may lack some manners. I hope you can overlook it.”
Rachel withdrew her gaze and smiled lightly. “It’s fine. It’s just that the two of you have different personalities.”
One abided by the rules, while the other… seemed to have forgotten her place.
David tightened his grip on Rachel’s hand. “Would you like to take a walk outside?”
“Sure,” said Rachel.
As they left, Rachel faintly heard Hailey whispering, “Who is that woman? Why did Sir bring her here?”
Upon hearing that, Rachel lowered her eyelids, her lips curved slightly, revealing a subtle and chilly smile.
“What are you thinking about?” David’s deep voice sounded.
Rachel lifted her gaze and looked at him, extending her finger to lightly trace his jawline, silently gazing at his exquisite and captivating face. “You have an irresistibly captivating appearance.”
That was why he could allure other women.
David went speechless.
Rachel slowly lowered her finger, hooking it around his collar and pulling him closer to her face. She spoke with a serious expression, “Stop fooling around with other women when you’re outside.”
“Fooling around?” David raised an eyebrow slightly.
-Rachel gave him a faint glance, her eyes and brows lightly narrowed. “Isn’t attracting other women considered fooling
around?”
