Chapter 138
Chapter 138
SAGE
I blinked, my eyes adjusting to the bright, glaring lights above. Kieran had finally removed my blindfold, and I could see where I was. The air was cold and smelled metallic, carrying a hint of fear, probably left by others who had been here before
The ride here had felt never–ending. Every bump on the road had shaken me, reminding me of the harsh reality I was back in. I’d tried to keep track of the route–counting turns, listening for sounds outside–but after a while, it all blurred together.
My thoughts kept drifting to my children. Harper and Cooper’s laughter echoed in my mind, now a bittersweet memory. Were they safe? Did Robert and Gertrude understand my letter? Would they protect my twins, even if I never made it back?
I clenched my fists, refusing to give in to despair. No, I will see them again. No matter what I had to go through, I’d find my way back to them. But first, I had to survive this nightmare.
I glanced at Kieran, who stood nearby watching me with a blank expression. He had dragged me back into this mess, but I hadn’t forgotten why. We had a deal–a blood pact that bound us. I’d agreed to be sold in this auction in exchange for his help. Once it was over, our pact would be over too. He would have no hold over me anymore.
That hope was the only thing keeping me steady.
I had to think ahead. I was already planning my escape. I just needed to wait for the right moment.
“Welcome to the beginning of the end,” Kieran said flatly, breaking my thoughts. He sounded bored, as if this was just business to him.
I glared at him but didn’t speak. I didn’t care about his reasons.
“Don’t make a scene,” he warned as two large guards entered the room. “The buyers prefer their goods quiet and cooperative.”
Goods. That’s what I was to these people–something to buy and sell.
I stood taller, lifting my chin despite the shackles on my wrists. Let them think I was broken. It would only make it easier for me to outsmart them.
The guards grabbed my arms roughly and started dragging me toward another room. I didn’t fight back–yet.
Each step brought me closer to freedom, to my children.
No matter what, I wasn’t staying here. And I wasn’t letting anyone take away the life I had fought to build–not without a fight.
They brought me into another room, the heavy door creaking as it shut behind us. The walls were bare, cold, and uninviting, but my attention was drawn to the lavish display on the bed. A long red sparkling gown shimmered under the dim light, its sequins catching every flicker.
I swallowed hard, memories clawing at the edges of my mind. It was just like the first time–when they had dressed me up, polished and painted, to parade me like some rare treasure. The thought made my stomach churn, but I steeled myself. This time was different. This time, I had to endure, get through the auction, and survive long enough to make my next
move.
One of the attendants, a woman with sharp eyes and even sharper nails, gestured toward the gown. “Put it on. The auction

starts soon.”
42%
I didn’t argue. Resistance now would only make things worse. My time to fight would come later. I slipped into the gown, the fabric cool against my skin. They forced me into heels that pinched my feet and dabbed makeup onto my face with cold efficiency. The woman stepped back, satisfied with her work.
“Perfect,” she said flatly. “Don’t mess it up.”
The guards flanked me once more, leading me through a series of narrow hallways until we reached a set of grand double doors. The muffled hum of voices leaked through the thick wood, growing louder as the doors swung open.
The auction hall was a stark contrast to the cold room I’d just left. Opulence dripped from every corner–velvet drapes, golden chandeliers, and rows of plush seats filled with powerful men and women dressed in their finest.
My heart pounded as I was led to the center of the stage, bright lights blinding me once again. I stood tall, refusing to show fear even as a spotlight pinned me in place. The auctioneer, a man with a slick smile and a voice like silk, began his pitch.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” the auctioneer’s voice rang through the grand hall, smooth and confident. “Tonight, we present a true rarity–something many have searched for but never dreamed they could claim. Beauty, strength, and a spirit that cannot be matched.”
The crowd murmured with interest, their curiosity sparked by his polished words. My stomach twisted at how easily he spoke of me like I was some prize to be won. But I kept my face calm, refusing to show any sign of weakness.
“As you all know,” he continued with a sly smile, “such remarkable qualities aren’t just desirable–they’re priceless.” He paused dramatically, letting the weight of his words sink in. “What we have here is an alpha breeder with a lineage as pure as it is rare. A true treasure.”
Anger burned through me, but I forced myself to stay composed. I bit the inside of my check, using the sting to steady myself. Any reaction would only feed their sense of power over me. I couldn’t let that happen. Not here. Not now.
Bright spotlights blazed down on me, making the room feel like a furnace. Dozens of eyes scanned me like I was merchandise on display, their greedy gazes trying to pick me apart, assessing my worth.
Yet amidst all the unfamiliar faces, I felt something that made my breath catch–a different kind of stare. It wasn’t filled with greed or hunger but something deeper, more intense.
My heart raced as I scanned the crowd, trying to find the source. The lights blinded me, and the corners of the room were shrouded in shadows where the wealthiest and most dangerous bidders sat, hidden from view.
Was it just my imagination? Or had someone from my past found me here, just when I thought all hope was gone?
The auctioneer’s voice pulled me back to the present.
“Shall we start the bidding at one billion dollars?” He announced with flair.
A ripple of murmurs swept through the crowd before a hand shot up–a bidder hidden by shadows.

The readers' comments on the novel: Betrayed by an Alpha claimed by a Lycan King (Sage and Titus)
Is it finished?...
...i mean...you had the perfect ending...why keep going?? ugh...i feel like author is going to continue with twists and turns [-_-]...
Don't mean to be rude but half the chapters are missing. As in your only publishing Half the chapter. Not all of it...
Would love more chapters...
ok just as a recap because i'm getting confused with this plot: sage (the daughter of the ex-alpha who was killed for betraying his pack) is contracted to marry the lycan king bc the present alpha doesn't want to give his own daughter to the king. sage sleeps with someone before the wedding (turns out to be the king). there's a caper at the palace where the king doesn't let her look at him bc he wants to keep her guessing for some reason but eventually she finds out that man she slept with is her husband now. there are other concubines and a queen but for some reason titus still doesn't have an heir despite being like thousands of years old. there is a prophecy that a red wolf will destroy the evil inside the king and when it comes to pass titus looks like he dies. sage runs away (she is the red wolf) bc shes scared of being called a killer. when she comes back titus has been manipulated to believe her "sister" is his mate. there's an intermission where sage runs away with her handmaiden to new york and they start a life for themselves. until titus buys out the company bc he's filthy rich and drags her back. the sister gets punished and jailed to be killed, but sage's intervention (due to her previous feelings for the brother) prevents her death. there's a point when the royal elders storm the castle and titus is jailed and almost at the point of death. taking the beta and her handmaiden they rescue titus and restore him to health. while sage was in new york, titus had somehow found his dead wife again (anna?) and she's very childlike and annoying. all the times sage saves titus doesn't matter because he's been deposed as king and brainwashed by his dead wife to believe she's everything to him. titus dissolves the bond between he and sage (bc of pressure from previous wife) but still has feelings for her and still sleeps with her while trying to reclaim his throne by making alliances with other werewolf packs. a bounty hunter offers his help but demands sage as the price. titus says no, but sage goes behind his back anyway and makes the deal. thinking titus is blinded by sage's presence that prevents him from forming alliance with a pack and having that alpha's daughter as his queen, she runs way with the bounty hunter and he puts her up for sale (she's an idiot for doing this). finding out she's pregnant with an accelerated pregnancy (due to blood moon sex?) she runs away from the auction house and is rescued by a couple who never had kids miles away from where she ran away. 3 years or so pass and she is happy with her chosen family until the bounty hunter finds her again and she goes with him to keep him away from her kids only to be rescued by titus at the auction house. he also finds her kids (bc they obvy would run away to find her) but she for some reason convinces them to lie and say they're not her kids. reunited again, they come across rogue wolves who hurt titus, but they somehow all fit into the helicopter that comes at the right time to save them all. titus while being gravely ill still saves sage from being sentenced to death, but now her kids are in danger....
ok now im reinvested! I hope the kids will be ok! titus now would be a good time to wake up!...
If possible, kindly change the title of the book too because Sage is suppose to be happy with Titus but this back and forth is making the book boring...
Please this has to stop , Titus is suppose to be her savior but she's going through too much...
This book really started good. And for whatever reason, the author keeps on adding boring and nonsensical twist to the story. I'm just skipping through chapters and story still the same.repeating issues and conflict and convo. So tiring. I'm just checking in hoping I can read the ending. Lolz...
We need an end soon. It getting boting and is so boring. Also people is missing. Were is her former maid and scott used to be her friend now he treat her like a stranger...
