SAGE

I blinked at the unfamiliar ceiling. My head pounding with a dull ache. The soft rustle of sheets reminded me I was lying on a bed far more luxurious than any I had touched in years. The rich scent of fresh linen filled the air. It almost masking the disorientation swirling in my mind.
The memories hit me all at once: I remembered what happened last night.
Was it last night? How long have I been sleeping? Where am I?
My chest tightened as panic surged through me. I sat up so fast that the room spun, my pulse thundering in my ears.
Desperate for answers, my eyes darted around the room. A plush cream carpet, mahogany furniture polished to perfection, and floor–to–ceiling windows that let in soft, natural light welcomed me like a warm greeting. Long silk curtains framed the view of a sprawling garden where flowers bloomed.
This wasn’t what I expected. Not at all.
Where were the chains, prison walls, and the grim faces of guards?
Confusion knotted my thoughts. Was this a trap disguised as luxury? Or had I somehow fallen into the hands of some Good Samaritan?
Before I could dwell on it further, the door creaked open, startling me. I tensed as I’m getti
But instead of a brute or captor, a young woman entered, balancing a silver tray laden with breakfast. Her warm smile was as bright as the sunlight pouring into the room.
“Good morning, my lady,” she greeted cheerfully as she sets the way on a side table. I brought you your meal. Would you like coffee or tea?”
I blinked at her, unable to hide my confusion, “What?”
[“Coffee or tea?” she repeated, unbothered by my confusion.
I frowned, suspicion creeping in despite her friendly demeanor The stark contrast between this treatment and the horror of the auction made my head spin.
Does this mean the man who bought me was kind? Or was this just a pretty façade for something darker?
One question weighed heavier than the rest–was he truly the man who paid two billion dollars for me? And if so, why would anyone spend that much just to treat me like a guest instead of a prisoner?
The woman’s voice broke through my tangled thoughts.
‘Til leave you to eat and freshen up. The master wishes to see you once you’re ready
.
My heart skipped at the mention of the master. Whoever he was. I needed answers. And I needed them fast.
“Wait, called out as she turned to leave. “Who… who brought me here?”
Her smile remained polite but offered no real answers. I’m afraid I’m in no position to answer that, my lady. But no worries,

everything will be explained soon. In the meantime, please enjoy your breakfast”
The door clicked shut behind her, leaving me alone with more questions than ever.
I stared at the breakfast tray, my appetite nonexistent despite the delicious spread of pastries, fruits, and eggs. My instincts. warned me not to trust anything here, no matter how pleasant it seemed.
Pacing the room. I quickly scanned the room, looking for any way out. Whoever this mysterious master was, he wasn’t just anyone. Two billion dollars was a fortune–far too much for simple whims.
Whoever he was, he wanted me badly enough to spend a fortune outbidding everyone at that cursed auction. His identity loomed in my mind like a shadow filled with unanswered questions. But none of that mattered right now. What I needed was freedom.
I clenched my fists, determination burning inside me. I didn’t care why he thought I was worth that ridiculous amount of money. Two billion dollars might change the world for some, but for me, it meant nothing. My only mission was to escape.
Harper’s and Cooper’s faces filled my thoughts, and my chest ached. I had promised them I’d come back. How long had I been gone? Hours? Days? Time had blurred between terror and unconsciousness. My breath hitched as panic crept in. They must be scared, wondering where I was.
Harper would try to be strong; I was sure of that. He’d step up for Cooper, but I knew Cooper; he’d be frightened, wondering why I hadn’t returned.
The thought of them waiting, made my hands shake. I had to get back to them. No excuses.
I paced the room, scanning every inch for a way out. The windows were big but tightly sealed, reinforced with steel. The door was heavy, probably locked from the outside. Whoever had brought me here had planned well.
I was left with no choice but to go through the door, which is the only way out. But obviously, it was locked. My fists slammed against the door, the metal cold and unyielding beneath my skin. “Let me out!” I shouted, my voice raw with desperation. “Please! I need to leave.”
Silence was my only answer, thick and oppressive. I bit down on my lip, refusing to let tears blur my resolve. Panic was creeping in fast, but I had to stay strong-
1 pounded harder. “You can’t keep me here!” My voice wavered, but I didn’t care anymore. Pride had no place when my children needed me.
Still nothing. Not even the sound of footsteps approaching. My throat burned from shouting, but I kept going, fueled by fear and desperation.
Silence pressed down around me like a heavy blanket. Not even the faintest sound of footsteps echoed from the hall. My throat was raw from yelling, but I couldn’t stop. Desperation fueled me, each cry for help louder than the last.
Frustration gnawed at my insides as I scanned the room, my eye landing on a decorative vase perched neatly on the bedside table. My breathing was ragged as I snatched it up, its weight solid in my hands. Without thinking, I hurled it at the door with every ounce of strength I had.
The vase shattered on impact, the sharp crash echoing through the room. Fragments scattered across the floor. The noise was deafening.
For a moment, nothing happened. Then, hurried footsteps approached, accompanied by the muffled voices of alarmed guards. The door handle twisted, and the lock clicked open.

Chapter 140
This was my chance.
As soon as the door creaked inward, I didn’t wait to see who was behind it. I lunged forward, adrenaline surging through my veins, and bolted past the figure in the doorway.
The guards stationed outside blinked in shock, momentarily frozen by my sudden burst of movement. Their hesitation was all I needed. My bare feet slapped against the cold floor as I sprinted down the hallway, my heart hammering wildly in my
chest.
The narrow corridor stretched endlessly ahead, but I didn’t slow down. Every instinct screamed at me to run, to find an exit before they caught up. My lungs burned, but fear was a stronger fuel than exhaustion.
Behind me, I heard the guards shout, their heavy boots pounding against the floor as they gave chase. The distance between us narrowed with every step.
Panic clawed at my senses, but I forced myself to focus. I needed to find a way out..
Up ahead, the hallway forked into two paths. Without thinking. I veered left, praying it would lead me closer to freedom.
Doors lined the walls, each one a potential hiding spot, but I didn’t dare stop. The guards‘ shouts grew louder, echoing off
the walls.
Then I saw it, a sudden burst of light at the end of the corridor. A door.
Hope surged through me. Freedom was within reach,
Just before I reached the door, strong hands clamped around my waist, lifting me off the ground like I weighed nothing. I let out a startled yelp, kicking and thrashing, but it was useless. My feet flailed in the air as my captor threw me over his broad shoulder like I was nothing more than a sack of hot potatoes,
“Let me go!” I shouted, pounding my fists against his back. “Put me down, you brute!”
But my shock didn’t end there.
A familiar deep, rumbling voice sent a chill racing down my spine.
“Well, you certainly know how to make an entrance, little kitten”
I froze, heart hammering in disbelief. No. It couldn’t be.
“It can’t be…This can’t be happening…” I breathed; the words slipped from my lips in stunned disbelief.
“It sure does,” he drawled, completely unfazed by my attempts to fight him off. His grip remained firm, his strength as unyielding as ever.
“What the hell are you doing here?” I demanded, twisting to get look at his face, but all I saw was the thick curtain of his dark hair. “And put me down!”
He chuckled, the sound vibrating through his chest. “I’m sorry, but I don’t take orders from you, kitten.”
“Let me go!” I snapped, kicking harder, my fists pounding againg his broad back. Every muscle in my body screamed for freedom, but his grip tightened even more with every defiant move I made.
“I don’t think I can do that,” he said, his voice low and cold, cutting through my fury like a blade. The familiar icy edge in his tone sent a shiver down my spine, awakening memories I’d buried deep,

The readers' comments on the novel: Betrayed by an Alpha claimed by a Lycan King (Sage and Titus)
Is it finished?...
...i mean...you had the perfect ending...why keep going?? ugh...i feel like author is going to continue with twists and turns [-_-]...
Don't mean to be rude but half the chapters are missing. As in your only publishing Half the chapter. Not all of it...
Would love more chapters...
ok just as a recap because i'm getting confused with this plot: sage (the daughter of the ex-alpha who was killed for betraying his pack) is contracted to marry the lycan king bc the present alpha doesn't want to give his own daughter to the king. sage sleeps with someone before the wedding (turns out to be the king). there's a caper at the palace where the king doesn't let her look at him bc he wants to keep her guessing for some reason but eventually she finds out that man she slept with is her husband now. there are other concubines and a queen but for some reason titus still doesn't have an heir despite being like thousands of years old. there is a prophecy that a red wolf will destroy the evil inside the king and when it comes to pass titus looks like he dies. sage runs away (she is the red wolf) bc shes scared of being called a killer. when she comes back titus has been manipulated to believe her "sister" is his mate. there's an intermission where sage runs away with her handmaiden to new york and they start a life for themselves. until titus buys out the company bc he's filthy rich and drags her back. the sister gets punished and jailed to be killed, but sage's intervention (due to her previous feelings for the brother) prevents her death. there's a point when the royal elders storm the castle and titus is jailed and almost at the point of death. taking the beta and her handmaiden they rescue titus and restore him to health. while sage was in new york, titus had somehow found his dead wife again (anna?) and she's very childlike and annoying. all the times sage saves titus doesn't matter because he's been deposed as king and brainwashed by his dead wife to believe she's everything to him. titus dissolves the bond between he and sage (bc of pressure from previous wife) but still has feelings for her and still sleeps with her while trying to reclaim his throne by making alliances with other werewolf packs. a bounty hunter offers his help but demands sage as the price. titus says no, but sage goes behind his back anyway and makes the deal. thinking titus is blinded by sage's presence that prevents him from forming alliance with a pack and having that alpha's daughter as his queen, she runs way with the bounty hunter and he puts her up for sale (she's an idiot for doing this). finding out she's pregnant with an accelerated pregnancy (due to blood moon sex?) she runs away from the auction house and is rescued by a couple who never had kids miles away from where she ran away. 3 years or so pass and she is happy with her chosen family until the bounty hunter finds her again and she goes with him to keep him away from her kids only to be rescued by titus at the auction house. he also finds her kids (bc they obvy would run away to find her) but she for some reason convinces them to lie and say they're not her kids. reunited again, they come across rogue wolves who hurt titus, but they somehow all fit into the helicopter that comes at the right time to save them all. titus while being gravely ill still saves sage from being sentenced to death, but now her kids are in danger....
ok now im reinvested! I hope the kids will be ok! titus now would be a good time to wake up!...
If possible, kindly change the title of the book too because Sage is suppose to be happy with Titus but this back and forth is making the book boring...
Please this has to stop , Titus is suppose to be her savior but she's going through too much...
This book really started good. And for whatever reason, the author keeps on adding boring and nonsensical twist to the story. I'm just skipping through chapters and story still the same.repeating issues and conflict and convo. So tiring. I'm just checking in hoping I can read the ending. Lolz...
We need an end soon. It getting boting and is so boring. Also people is missing. Were is her former maid and scott used to be her friend now he treat her like a stranger...
