Chapter 35
ANNIKA
“D**n it!” I cursed loudly, my voice echoing off the walls of the guest chamber. I paced back and forth, my mind racing with frustration and desperation. I thought I had finally discarded Sage and removed her from the equation. But I hadn’t anticipated the depth of influence she had over His Majesty. How had she managed to ensnare him so completely?
I stopped gripping the edge of the table, my knuckles turning white. This wasn’t how things were supposed to go. I had planned everything meticulously, yet here I was, trapped in this chamber, my future hanging by a thread.
The realization that His Majesty had not yet ordered my death brought a fleeting sense of relief. But that relief was quickly overshadowed by the gnawing fear of the unknown. How long will I be able to stay here before the noose tightens around my neck?
1 clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms. The walls seemed to close in on me, suffocating me with the weight of my impending doom. I had to act, and quickly.
I couldn’t allow Sage to continue holding such sway over him. I needed a plan-a way to turn the tables before it was 100 late. My mind churned with possibilities, each more desperate than the last. I couldn’t afford to make another mistake.
I straightened, taking a deep breath to steady myself. There had to be a way to turn this situation to my advantage. Perhaps I could find an ally within the palace, someone who resented Sage’s influence as much as I did. Or maybe there was a secret about Sage that I could uncover, something that would shatter her hold over His Majesty.
Think, Annika, think, I muttered to myself, my mind racing with possibilities
Time was running out, and I couldn’t afford to waste a single moment. I needed to act swiftly and decisively, or risk being swallowed by the very darkness I had sought to control.
I was startled when someone barged into my room. My eyes widened upon seeing who it was
“Your Majesty,” I greeted in surprise, quickly bowing before her
The queen’s presence filled the room with icy tension. She stared down at me with eyes that seemed to see straight through my facade. “You’re very determined to take your sister’s place, aren’t you?” she asked, her tone dripping with disdain.
“It wasn’t her place to begin with, Your Majesty,” I responded, trying to keep my voice steady. “I was the one promised to the king, as my father is the current alpha of our pack. I wasn’t taking anything that wasn’t mine.”
Her gaze intensified, adding a sharp edge to her scrutiny. “Are you determined to take my place as well?”
I quickly lowered my head, the weight of her words pressing down on me. “I would never dare, Your Majesty,” I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.
“Your family is equally clever and foolish,” she said, her voice cold and cutting. “You manage to go around the rules of the treaty, yet here you are fully determined to reclaim the position you freely gave away.”
I swallowed hard, feeling the sting of her rebuke. “It was never my intention to defy the treaty, Your Majesty. Circumstances have changed, and I am merely trying to fulfill my duty to my park
The queen’s lips curled into a bitter smile. “Duty to your pack, you say? Or is it your own ambition that drives you?”
A flicker of fear ran through me, but I couldn’t afford to show weakness. I only seek to honor my family’s legacy and secure our future,” I said, hoping my words would find some semblance of truth in her eyes.

She studied me for a long moment, her expression unreadable. I don’t care about your reason for coming here. But I want you to remember that you owe your life to me.
she M**t that you pulled a while ago could have cost you your I
warned. “If it weren’t for me, you’d be dead by now,”
“I am fully aware of that, Your Majesty. And I will be forever grateful.” I answered, keeping my voice steady even though my heart was racing
The queen’s eyes narrowed, a flicker of skepticism crossing her face. “Good. By saving you, I already put myself on His Majesty’s bad side. How are you planning to make it up for
for it?”
A cold sweat broke out on my forehead. I had suspected her favor came at a price, but the reality of her words hit me harder than I anticipated. “L… I will do whatever it takes to prove my loyalty to you, Your Majesty.” I stammered, trying to convey my sincerity. “Just tell me what you need.”
She raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. “Words are cheap, Annika”
I swallowed hard, thinking quickly. Tll do everything in my power to prove myself to you, Your Majesty. Just say the word, and I’ll do it.
A smirk tugged at the corners of her lips. “Everything, you say? Interesting.
“Yes, Your Majesty,” I said, nodding eagerly.
The queen’s smirk faded, replaced by a more contemplative look. “I need you to get any information I could use to remove your sister from the palace. I need it as soon as possible. If you do that, I’ll gladly give you her position,” she ordered.
I felt a chill run down my spine at her words “I understand,” I replied, my voice trembling slightly. “I will not fail you.”
She stepped closer, her gaze piercing. “See that you don’t,” she whispered, her breath warm against my ear. “Because if you do, I will not be so merciful next time.”
With that, she turned and left the room, leaving me standing there, shaken but more determined than ever. I had been given a chance to prove myself, and I knew I had to seize it with everything I had. The queen’s favor was a double-edged. sword, but I would wield it to secure my place and make sure to get rid of Sage.
The queen had assigned me a mission, and I wouldn’t rest until it was completed. I needed to uncover something-some piece of information-that would shift the balance in our favor. But how could I accomplish that when His Majesty was always there to protect her?

The readers' comments on the novel: Betrayed by an Alpha claimed by a Lycan King (Sage and Titus)
Is it finished?...
...i mean...you had the perfect ending...why keep going?? ugh...i feel like author is going to continue with twists and turns [-_-]...
Don't mean to be rude but half the chapters are missing. As in your only publishing Half the chapter. Not all of it...
Would love more chapters...
ok just as a recap because i'm getting confused with this plot: sage (the daughter of the ex-alpha who was killed for betraying his pack) is contracted to marry the lycan king bc the present alpha doesn't want to give his own daughter to the king. sage sleeps with someone before the wedding (turns out to be the king). there's a caper at the palace where the king doesn't let her look at him bc he wants to keep her guessing for some reason but eventually she finds out that man she slept with is her husband now. there are other concubines and a queen but for some reason titus still doesn't have an heir despite being like thousands of years old. there is a prophecy that a red wolf will destroy the evil inside the king and when it comes to pass titus looks like he dies. sage runs away (she is the red wolf) bc shes scared of being called a killer. when she comes back titus has been manipulated to believe her "sister" is his mate. there's an intermission where sage runs away with her handmaiden to new york and they start a life for themselves. until titus buys out the company bc he's filthy rich and drags her back. the sister gets punished and jailed to be killed, but sage's intervention (due to her previous feelings for the brother) prevents her death. there's a point when the royal elders storm the castle and titus is jailed and almost at the point of death. taking the beta and her handmaiden they rescue titus and restore him to health. while sage was in new york, titus had somehow found his dead wife again (anna?) and she's very childlike and annoying. all the times sage saves titus doesn't matter because he's been deposed as king and brainwashed by his dead wife to believe she's everything to him. titus dissolves the bond between he and sage (bc of pressure from previous wife) but still has feelings for her and still sleeps with her while trying to reclaim his throne by making alliances with other werewolf packs. a bounty hunter offers his help but demands sage as the price. titus says no, but sage goes behind his back anyway and makes the deal. thinking titus is blinded by sage's presence that prevents him from forming alliance with a pack and having that alpha's daughter as his queen, she runs way with the bounty hunter and he puts her up for sale (she's an idiot for doing this). finding out she's pregnant with an accelerated pregnancy (due to blood moon sex?) she runs away from the auction house and is rescued by a couple who never had kids miles away from where she ran away. 3 years or so pass and she is happy with her chosen family until the bounty hunter finds her again and she goes with him to keep him away from her kids only to be rescued by titus at the auction house. he also finds her kids (bc they obvy would run away to find her) but she for some reason convinces them to lie and say they're not her kids. reunited again, they come across rogue wolves who hurt titus, but they somehow all fit into the helicopter that comes at the right time to save them all. titus while being gravely ill still saves sage from being sentenced to death, but now her kids are in danger....
ok now im reinvested! I hope the kids will be ok! titus now would be a good time to wake up!...
If possible, kindly change the title of the book too because Sage is suppose to be happy with Titus but this back and forth is making the book boring...
Please this has to stop , Titus is suppose to be her savior but she's going through too much...
This book really started good. And for whatever reason, the author keeps on adding boring and nonsensical twist to the story. I'm just skipping through chapters and story still the same.repeating issues and conflict and convo. So tiring. I'm just checking in hoping I can read the ending. Lolz...
We need an end soon. It getting boting and is so boring. Also people is missing. Were is her former maid and scott used to be her friend now he treat her like a stranger...
