I woke up to the familiar ceiling of my chamber. I furrowed my brow upon realizing where I was. How did I get here? I can clearly remember walking into the king’s chamber and witnessing the beast trapped inside his room. But seeing myself back in my room. I can’t help but think that it was all but a dream.

Though she seemed perplexed, she bowed her head and left the bathroom. I breathed a sigh of relief once I was alone.
I quickly locked the door behind her, my heart racing as I made my way to the mirror. The mark on my neck was the absolute proof of what happened last night. I leaned closer to inspect it, my fingers trembling as they traced the outline of the bite. I looked in the mirror, trying to see it clearly.

I let out a deep sigh of frustration, feeling the weight of unanswered questions pressing down on me like a heavy cloak. “Elara, I need to visit the library,” I declared, rising from my seat. “Can you please inform Her Majesty that I won’t be joining for breakfast? Just cover for me, please.”
