Xavier walked with his mother up to where Selene was waiting for them.
"Is there something you want to say to me, Xavier?" Josephine asked, assuming he was curious about what she had spoken with Nathaniel about.
"No. I already know that you two will be back together, and it doesn’t concern me. You won’t be able to resist each other. He’ll show up before you a few more times, and then I will hear that you are with him. It is fine," Xavier said.
Xavier had little to no interest in stopping Josephine from going back to Nathaniel once she was out of his home.
"You might be right. I am only a little tired of our marriage right now. We’ve been together for so long, and I never realised I could take a break to enjoy myself. It truly might be a curse to live so long. One of us would have died by now if we were human," Josephine said.
Josephine held onto Xavier’s arm as they walked. "I am going to be out of your hair in a moment. I have welcomed Selene to come visit me. You must help her find ways to enjoy herself with either social events or friends. It’s tiring to be in this family."
"It was tiring for you because your husband didn’t know when to cut his family off. Selene will be fine. I shall make sure of it," Xavier promised. "Still, thank you for the advice."
"I think I want another one of you," Josephine said, causing Xavier to step away from her.
"Please don’t."
"Why? I am quite young for a pureblood, and there’s no limit to when I can’t have another child. You should see this as good for you. There would be someone else for your father and the Blackthorns to bother," said Josephine.
"That’s why you shouldn’t do it. I don’t want a sibling born as a distraction. Only have another child if it is something that you truly want. Besides, I am one of a kind. There’s no telling that the sibling would be as wonderful as I am," Xavier said, knowing it was unlikely.
"You came from me, and I am something wonderful, so all my children will be grand. I will leave quickly so I can pretend that I didn’t see you two clearing out a room. Selene, there are more things inside for me to get," Josephine said, since there was more room on the cart.
"I will be up shortly to help you," Selene informed Josephine. "You are flying around a lot now. Maybe you should only do it when there is something important."
"Getting back to you two was important. I know you are curious about who will be king. It is Michael," Xavier shared.
"That is good to hear. I was worried about it going back to Darius or Vivienne’s family. Hopefully, with Michael on the throne, you have very little reason to visit the palace. I can partly relax now," Selene said, sighing in relief.
Xavier’s brow was raised as he had many questions. "Partly? Haven’t all the people who bother you been taken care of?"
"Your dungeon is still quite interesting," Selene said, referring to the princess.
It was always on her mind that someone could come looking for Morgana. It puzzled Selene why they hadn’t come looking for her yet.
"The dungeon is fine," Xavier said, not concerned about anyone showing up at their gates.
"Will you kill her?" Selene asked.
"No," Xavier replied. "Not unless she does something else foolish. Sometimes it is best to let them sit and think about their actions. Had she behaved, she wouldn’t be in that position."
In the end, Josephine’s leaving the estate took longer than Xavier wanted, but to Selene, it was a good sendoff for Josephine since there was more time to spend together. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
