Chapter 571 Five Months
A wave of pure rage washed over Hailey.
She was shaking with it, her face dark, her hands clenched into fists.
Crack!
She hurled her phone onto the marble floor, shattering the screen into pieces.
Damn that Sadie! And Noah, too! How dare he?
How could he discard her so quickly, when she had saved his life?
Had he completely forgotten who had stayed by his side these past three years? Had he forgotten who had brought him
back from a vegetative state?
Now he was off with that bitch and her little brat, enjoying their perfect family life!
Hailey’s chest heaved as she fumed.
It was then that she remembered Briley.
Not only was Sadie alive and well, but she was spending time with Noah, too.
That could only mean one thing–Briley had failed! Once again, that useless fool had made things worse instead of better.
She really should have known! Briley had always been more trouble than she was worth.
Hailey gnashed her teeth together.
She had given Briley every advice she could think of, but that damn girl still couldn’t pull off something so simple.
What should she do now?
If Noah and Sadie kept seeing each other…
No! She absolutely could not lose Noah!
Her eyes grew wide and crazed as her mind raced with possibilities.
She knew she needed to come up with a new plan, one that would solve the problem, once and for all.
Hailey suddenly froze, a thought hitting her like a bolt of lightning.
She bent down and yanked the bottom drawer of the coffee table open.
Inside lay a black handgun.
It was the very same gun she had used to kill Sutton. It was her last trump card.
Hailey stared at it, her expression turning more grim by the second.

Chapter 571 Five Months
If Noah kept seeing Sadie, then he would only have himself to blame for what was coming.
This time, Hailey was pulling out all the stops. She had no choice.
Just then, she heard the sound of footsteps hurrying from outside.
The butler burst into the room in the next second, panic written all over his face. “Ms. Burgess, bad news!”
Startled by the sudden intrusion, Hailey tried to slam the drawer closed, but it was too late.
She straightened up and tried to compose herself. “What is it?” she snapped coldly at the butler. “Why are you so worked
up?”
The butler was struggling to catch his breath, his face devoid of any color. “Ms. Burgess, we’ve received news from Beversea. Briley was apprehended by the police. Apparently, she was caught coercing someone to steal something at Jarrett’s wedding. And that’s not all! Jarrett’s ex–girlfriend–Yvonne, I believe that’s her name–showed up with a pregnant belly. It caused quite a commotion at the venue! She claimed that she was carrying Jarrett’s baby! Now, the marriage alliance between the Higgins and Johnson families is completely messed up. It’s a total disaster!”
Hailey didn’t even bat an eye at the news.
That fool, Briley, deserved to be caught and put behind bars.
She just hadn’t expected that the Higgins family was keeping such a dramatic scandal behind the scenes. A pregnant ex- girlfriend, showing up at the wedding? What a sight it must have been!
Hailey’s lips slowly curled into a cunning smile.
Meanwhile, at the Higgins family’s residence, the air was crackling with tension to the point of being suffocating.
Rodger, Jarrett, Daren, and Ophelia sat scattered across the sofas.
Since no one was willing to speak first, a thick, oppressive silence hung over the living room.
Daren was the first to cave in, slapping his palm against the armrest. “Rodger, after today’s events, I believe that you and your family owe us an explanation!”
His tone was heavy with accusation. “My sister was humiliated in front of everyone. How are we supposed to hold our
heads up in Beversea in light of this scandal?!”
He was right to be mad–Ophelia was the Johnson family’s precious princess, yet at her own wedding, on what was supposed to be the happiest day of her life, she had been upstaged by some unknown woman. Not only that, but this very
same woman claimed to be carrying the groom’s child.
No words could describe the humiliation that Ophelia and her family felt.
Rodger immediately plastered the most ingratiating smile he could muster on his face. “Daren, please try to calm down,” he
pleaded, completely humbling himself. “Let’s not get too emotional.”
Then he stood up and personally refilled Daren’s coffee cup. “This was entirely our fault. We had no idea this would
happen. Rest assured, we won’t let Ophelia suffer this injustice for nothing.”
Rodger was barely stifling his own fury.
Yvonne had picked the worst possible moment to show up and cause trouble. What rotten luck!
