Billionaire Baby Daddy novel (Abigail and Mason) novel Chapter 9

Turns out Mr Keels is handing over the company to me. Funny, I know. If a month and a half ago I would be told I'd be a rich pregnant heiress who was impregnated by Sydney Kings, I would laugh in your face and ask you to join a mental hospital. That's just sick. But here I am.

Mr Keels explained how my mother wouldn't be the CEO since she got depressed and Jason was never interested with company work so Mr Keels took over until another suitable person would be found. Me.

We agreed that since I'm pregnant I would only get to know how everything works and prepare myself to take over six months after my baby's birth.

I take out my flowery sundress after taking a bath ready to go see my mother in the clinic. Jason should be here in twenty minutes and since I'm not applying any makeup that means more time for me.

It's been a week since the meeting at the office and I told Jason and Mr Keels that I would only accept the position if I get to meet my mother.

The ten-minute drive to the clinic makes me nervous and excited. I grew up with abusive people that I thought were my parents. The woman I thought was my mother died eight years ago because of overdose and the man I thought was my father increased his alcohol and drug intake making me his punching bag until someone called the police and he was found assaulting me. Six years ago I was informed he died after a failed attempt of escape and told on his partners who later beat him to death.

I'm so glad they were not my real parents. Turns out they were the kidnappers even though they were working for someone who is yet to be known.

We arrive at the clinic and head straight to my mother's room. Jason opens the door for me and I take a very deep breath before going in.

There she is. Sitting on a sofa watching a show on the television. Her hair that looked thick on the photograph doesn't look healthy anymore. She looks so thin but not malnourished. She laughs at a part and I instantly smile loving how she laughs. It's carefree and genuine. Jason goes to her and I follow him closely. Since her back is to us she doesn't notice us.

"I told you Lucy. I'm fine. I don't need those pills. My daughter is all I need." Her soft voice cuts through the air. My eyes tear up when I hear what she says and I couldn't be happier.

Jason moves in front of her and whispers something and she turns so fast making me cringe. That speed could cause a whiplash.

She stands and just like me we seem rooted to the spot.

"Mummy." I move so fast and hug her. "Isabella. My little Bella. My angel. I'm here. Mummy's here." She kisses my forehead repeatedly as we both cry in each other's arms for about thirty minutes.

An hour later after talking with both Jason and my mother, Jason decides to leave us to catch up and promises to come and pick me up in the evening. I tell my mother about my childhood leaving out the abuse details.

We watch some movies and shows together and eat ice cream and by the time we know it, Jason comes back with pizza. We leave an hour later.

I already feel like I've known my mother all my life and I want to be with her all the time.

"I've never seen her so happy. Her eyes are now brighter." Jason says as he gets into the car.

"Yeah. We had so much fun and talked. We had an instant connection. I'm so happy I don't even know what to call you." This makes Jason laugh and I join in.

"You used to call me uncle J. There were times you called me JJ." He says with a smile. "We were so close you know. Allies. Partners in crime. We loved to prank your mum."

I look at Jason and start to laugh. "JJ." I say tasting it in my mouth. "That's nice. I love it. You look so young to be my uncle you know. What are you? Thirty?"

"36. I'm not that young."

"Now we have to find you a wife." I tease him. He laughs.

"So. Will you take up the position? You seem perfect for it." The mood in the car instantly changes.

"I'll think about it. But I'll still live with Harry until I find my own place." JJ nods at this but says nothing. We stay in silence for about two minutes.
